I read a newspaper column
a few days ago in which a
person had compliinented a
painter for doing an out
standing job and was inter
ested in his comment,
"I learned to do a good
job almost against my will,*’
he said. "When I was 17^ I

Several years ago, Nash
County commissioner Mike
Griffin, decided to raise
deer for a pass time.
For a few years, Mr. Grif
fin kept the deer in a
friend’s pasture. Recently,
however, he had one of his
own built especially for
these animals.
At first he had only two
or three deerj today he
has a total of eight.
Unlike Santa’s troop all
of the deer do not have
names, but the oldest of
the present group is call

The pasture land for the
deer has been praised by a
group of Wildlife Agents,
as "one of the best and
most well-kept and managed
in the state
Food for the anirrals is

affirms, because the deer
eat cigarettes, crackers,
corn, different kinds of
green vegetables, and a
miscellany of other items,
some intended to be eaten
and some not. They cchBW

"I used to think he was a
crank because he wouldn’t
let me get by with a job
that wasn’t done as he
knew it should be.
"I'll always be grateful
to him for pounding it in
to my head that the only
way to take pride in a job
is to do it well enough
that you are satisfied
with it yourself."
The columnist stated that
it was a lucky person who
had someone to teach that
lesson~a, parent, a teach
er, or, even later, an
employer.

satisfied with nothing
less than your best,"
