3AILEY BUGLE. BAILEY. NORTH CAROLINA. JANUARY 19^7 PAGE 8 How Positive Are You— - - - — ~Py Sue VJeaver To listen to conversa tions in the hall, one would think everybody knows what he wants to do when he graduates, espe cially an upper classman. Is this true? Let's see. The senior and junior class presidents seem to know more definitely than anyone else what vocation they plan to follow after college. James Wells, the senior president, wants to go into engineering x-xork of some kind after college graduation. Almeta Brown, junior president, declares, "I want to be a grammar grade teacher." SOME UNDECIDED When I asked Lane Farmerl> also planning to go to col lege, about her career, all I received was a blank stare; then she rallied and replied that she want ed her aptitude and inter est to determine her choice. Catching Adrian Mtchell, a junior, and Carroll Bot toms, a senior, after lunch, I queried them a- bout their future plans. They reported that they planned to serve in some branch of the Armed Ser vices after graduation, Carroll added that he might go to college, but right now he is undecided. Questioning Katy Horton, a junior, I got the reply, "I want to go intib commer cial work, either as a sec retary or an operator for an I.B.M. Bank machine." Bailey's star basketball player, Jimmy Dew, affirm ed, "I am working toward a basketball scholarship, butt my vocntinn np nndoP-idfid." Barbara Boykin is facj.ng a big problem as to what she will do after gradu ating from high school this spring. She says she wants to go to college and maybe study fashion design ing; or, as an alternative, she "might" go to business school. Louise Wells, another sen ior, is trying for a col lege scholarship but is undecided about a future career. After these conversations, I came to realize that the upper classmen aren't as certain as they appear. I wonder about the lower classmen.
