They set their quota at $1600 -nd sole! well over this a- inount. This contest is sponsored each year by the Giartiss Publishing Com pany. Money netted ¥111 be used by the class for the Junior-Senior Banquet. iviiiPT KLIZAB^’H GLOVER was high srslesman with a ^rand •'^otal of $19li. She re ceived a $25 sales certif icate. Rijnning her a close race was ^L1XIME LILES, who sold $180 worth of subscriptions. Maxine received as her prise tickets to the Dixie Clas sics. Third place went to mm BRANKON. Nancy also received Dixie Classic tickets. SALESMANSHIP CERTIFICATES Many other Juniors re ceived salesmanship a- wards. For selling $30 or more the following stu dents received salesman certificates: Marvin Deans, Esther Williams, Spencer Lewis, Sue Lamm, Linda Brantley, Bob Priv- ette, Ashley Folsom, Vir ginia Perry, Nancy Finch, Lollie Ray Joyner, David Winstead, Mitchell Bis- sette, Ann Skinner, Melvin Strickland, Elizabeth Lamm, Joyco Barniis, June Lamm, and Valerie Davis, Mary Elizab',th Glover, Maxine Liles, N-ancy Bran non, and Gerald Finch re ceived pins for selling $100 worth of subscrip tions. As a reward for hard viork and good salesmanship all students selling ov..;r $30 were honored with a barbe cue supper at Parkers Bar becue in Wilson. • JUNIORS SELECT MASCOTS AND CLASSRINGS February 21 was a very important date on the jun ior class calendar. They mot with Mr. Lee Blackwell, representative from L. G. Balfour Company to select their classrings. The juniors sol '::cted the standard Bailey School ring, vrhich bears the green hornet insignia and the North Carolina state seal. They had a choicc of the various stones. /knother vory important step was taken by the jun iors when they selected their mascots. They chose cute little Janet Strick land and handsome young Jeff Harris. Janet, who is four years old, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Strickland of Middlesex, North Caro lina. Jeff, who lives in Williamston, North Caro lina, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fisher Harris. JWIIORS SELL DRINKS This year, as usual, the juniors were in charge of the concession stand at the ballg.arnes. They sold nabs, peanuts, and home made candy \A/ith the drinks. W, G. Those taking part in the selling were Pobert Mat thews, Johnny Dew, Vir ginia Perry, Joyce Barnes, Jane Patterson, Marvin Deans, David Winstead, Billy Carroll, Melvie Jean Tant, Ashley Folsom, Esther Williams, Shirley Jordan, and Ann Skimier. JUNIORS ELECT OFFICERS Thirty-six students make up the Junior Class. Lead ing the class as officers are President, M^'iXINE LILES; Vice-President, MflRY ELIZABETH GLOVr®j Sec retary, NANCY BR.\NNON; Treasurers, LINDA BRrxNTLEY and ELIZABETH LfMl; and Historian, LII\IDA BRANTLEY. Class sponsors are Mr, William B. X'ftdgeon and Mr, William G, Edwards. The Juniors chose blue and white as their class colors. "Conduct and courtesy lead to honor*' was selected as class mot to. Serving as grademothers are Mrs, Jack Finch, Mrs. M. B. Glover, Mrs. Charlie Brannon, Mrs. Kermit Brantley, and Mrs, Mary Privette. BilSEBALL TEi\M PICKED The Bailey baseball team has a 2 and 1 record this year, which is fine this early in the season. Coach Widgeon's team consists mostly of lettermen at each position and he says, "If our pitching staff continues to hold up as well as it has, we should do okay." He also says that although the team is not hitting for a high average, the hits have come when we needed them. Members of the team are: Russell Lamm, Toney High, James McKeel, R. S.
