A graduate Atlantic Christian College; Mr. Daly ma.iored in Physi-'al Kdunation and mi-'ioref^ in History. Before cming to railey, he was at Colonial Beach 'ligh School in Virginia, where he coached for 5 suc^es'ful seasons aid where he taught P. 2,, civics, and geography. Coach Daly has made one outstanding innovation in the basic offense of both the girls' and boys' teams His extensive use of "post men" (or hookers under the goal) has resulted in more points and victories for both teams. Tant ENE BASKETBALL SEASON REVIH^JED BOYS The boj'-s had a successful campaign rolling up 1^ wins with only 8 setbacks and placing third in con ference standings. Each of the defeats were suffered In close contests. In five of the games the team was nipped by four points or less. Off to a slow start, the Hornets finished strong with four straight x;ins. The season's final, a five point decision over Red Oak, Nash County Champ, avenged an earlier rout, .Games in tournament play t;ere split, with Bailey topping Spring Hope in the first contest, and drop ping the second to Roles- ville to wind up the season. GIRLS The girls also enjoyed a /fine season winning 17 of 25 contests vjhile placing third in conference stand- in;/s. The I-ady Hornets' play throughout the season was steady but. not very spectacular. Hoi;ever, when toarnoment play began the girls displayed a sudden outburst of reserved power as they biased their way to the finals in the Wake- :jash-r,dgPicombe tournament. The Kornettes were on the long end of the score with Knightdale, iJakelon, and Red Oak before being sub dued by North Edgecombe in the final game. Both teams are young and another fine season is ex pected next year. +++ BASKETB^.LL SEASON nEGlN; After a successful campaign in basketball Coach Ken Daly turns to baseball. He hopes to begin practice March 2, with a large turnout. Tnis year's team ;;ill be built around returning lettermen and several promising newcomers. The outlook for the season appears to be bright#
