Snippy, the Snooper Look out for that scandalous “Snippy.” We think he’s a little bit dippy; We don’t know who he is; But he’s sure got the biz, And he can smell a love in Missis sippi! F. Yelverton liked baseball! Baseball or Captain, eh Frances? Mary Best was overheard to say that she had been in “love” with the same guy for two years. Funny, though, we haven’t seem them much together lately. What’s the matter, Addison? We heard that Randolph M.’s motto was “Keep Fighting,” but since the trip to Durham he has withdrawn from the battle. Could it be tha tlittle brunette in Dur ham? We saw him mailing a pic ture about a week ago, and receive one of her today. Frances isn’t the only one who misses baseball. What about Vir ginia? Now we know why Olivia likes Sea Scouts. Does Bill Grady have anything to do .with this? Germany certainly does appeal to Tommy Daniels lately. Need I say more? In case you don t catch on, it’s Emmy. Louis H. and Doris W. make a swell couple, don’t they? Look for them sometime. Helena J. seems to have a good time every day between classes. Mrs. Middleton, advisor then tak ing charge, gave instructions as to the tappings of the new members which was done by the seven old members who were taken in two months ago. One by one the old members of the society went into the audience to get the candidate whose name he was given. When all the new members were seated on the platform, Mr. Burt P. 'Johnson administered the pledge to all the new members, after which all new pledges signed the formal registration sheet which is filed with the society’s records. Everette Proud read the consti tution. • At a meeting of the Honor Socie ty on May 19, Jane Smith was elected president of the council. The other officers were: James Heyward, Vice-president;. Helen Moye, secretary. The advisor, Mrs. Middleton will act as treasurer. Other business was the decision to oi’der the emblem pins for the members at the earliest possible date. The society did not function last year because the school was dropped from the accredited list The first Honor Society of GHS was chartered in 1932, and since that time has inducted 52 students into the society. The board of elections which is made up of Billy Spicer, chairman, Earl Montague, Dorothy Creech, Horace Potter, and Jean Edgerton has been making plans for the election to be held Friday, May 28. Miss Downing is faculty advisor. The polls wil be open from 8:30 to 4:00 and will be held by students chosen by the board of elections. One member of the board will be on duty during the entire election. All petitions must be in: by Thursday morning, May 27, as cam paign speeches will be is assembly Thursday. The feature editor has re ceived several scandalous letters from him. Most of the staff mem bers have been accused of being “Snippy” but nothing has been proved—yet. Who do you think it is? Those winning letter in swim ming for the first time were: Earl DeShong, James Kennedy, Billy Hood, Bill Nufer, Lewis Tilgman, Jimmie Weathers, Tommy Daniels, Clevia Balkum, Edwin Shumate and Tinker Heyward. Bob Dawson, David Britt, and Ernest Crone re ceived certificates. Captain Casey was given a chenille letter for his outstanding work during the year and for leading his team to win the State Championship.
