GHS CHEERLEADERS REVEAL LIKES^AND DISLIKES This year’s cheering squad, with their original and effective yells have given the school new enthusi asm, and spurred the boys on the football field and basketball court on to victory. The squad is com posed of two members from each class and in addition George Wil son heads the group with an assist ant, Henry Lee. George’s ambition is “to be a hus band.”, His hobby is collecting “Boo gie Woogie” records. George thinks cheering and eating fried chicken are a lot of fun. Henry, ajssistant to George, de cided that t'lie yell “Boogie Woogie” is tops and ^teak is his favorite food. “Specs” or “Podds,” as Henry is known, wants to go to Wake For est when he graduates. “Tootsie” Powell, (Senior cheer leader, likes hot fudge sundaes. An other one of “Tootsie’s” many likes is' dancing to “The Very Thought of You.” The other senior cheerleader is Mary Goode Nufer—more familiar to students as “Goodie.” When ask ed what her favorite yell is she smiled, “Oh, I like all of them.” Her favorite food is cheeseburgers. Goo die’s immediate plan, after gradu ation is to go to Salem College. Durwood Stafford, that vigorous little sophomore with the broad grin, says that what he likes about cheerleading is meeting so many people at out-of-town games. He likes garden peas, and a fishing trip now and then agrees with him. ' His favorite sport is basketball, and his ambition is to be a coach. Opposite Durwood on the cheer ing squad is Susan Gardner, an other very active Sophomore.
