TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 19S1 THE BLACKBIRD, ROCKY MOUNT HIGH SCHOOL PAGE 3 SPORTS SCOPE -by- Johnnie and James Rocky Mount ended the season with a 14-7 recoid. This includes the two games lost to the Duke and Wake Forest freshman. The basketball squad had a good season this year. In looking ovei the season we find they did the one thing they wanted to do and that was to defeat Durham. Had the Blackbirds lost all the other games and defeated Durham they would have been satisfied. Spring training is coming on and it is just no telling what these boys will do next year. We’ll just have to wait and see. State lost in the N I T quarter quarter finals, but they are still proud of Sammy Ranzino who has made several all-American teams. Joe Louis had to cancel a bout recently due to a case of flu. It could be that Joe’s fighting days are nearing an end. Congratulations to Ed Bandy on being elected Captain of next year’s basketball team. Youth Shop 211 S. Main St. Recommended by Duncan Hines Wilro, Inc. Restaurant 220 S. Church St. Rocky Mount, N. C.
