The Aged
Recall
“Christmas past” is never
forgotten. When asked about
past Christmases, many senior
citizens replied that the main
thing they remember is not
getting so many things at
Christmas, but always enjoying
what they did receive.
One resident of Guardian
Care told of how she
remembered the year her
mother was sick and she had to
take on the role of Santa Claus.
She added that- her mother
would always take their dolls
and toys out of the box and
arrange them very nicely in the
living room around the Christ
mas tree.
Another patient recalled how
her parents never put the
Christmas tree up until Christ
mas Eve, after the children had
gone to sleep. They didn’t put
many decorations on the tree,
because a holly tree was used,
and this was covered with red
berries. The two main things
used were small wax candles
and strings of popcorn.
The same person
remembered how her
would load up the sleigh,
ride to some relative’s home for
the big Christmas tree.
Past Christmases bring back
happy memories to the resi
dents of Guardian Care and to
all of us.

band PARTICIPATES IN CHRISTMAS PARADE - The
annual Christmas Parade was held recently and the march-
mg band from Rocky Mount Senior High was right in it.
The parade contained various floats typical of the holiday
season. Jolly Old Saint Nick even showed up to cap the oc^
casion. Many people were strung along the sides of the
streets, despite the cold, to watch the display.
