Homecoming Activities Set 1./ Child Star Discovered Most students do not relate the name of Mrs. Anne William son to those of Spanky, Alfalfa, Porky or Buckwheat. However, these names are remotely link ed. “At the age of seven or eight, talent scouts came to Rocky Mount in search of children to act in “The Little Rascals” or “Our Gang” I don’t remember which,” she said. “1 remember the day they filmed it very well. It was on a beautiful lawn near the old Elks Lodge. We ran through it once, and then they filmed the scene. We were all sitting around and I was holding my accordion. One of the kids said, “Hey Anne, can you play that thing?,” and I replied, “Yes.” Then they said, “How about a tune.” I played ‘Little Sir Echo’ and ‘Carnival at Venice’ which was about my entire repetoii*e at that age,” Mrs. Williamson chuckled. At the age of five, Mrs. Williamson entered a Shirley Temple Contest on the radio. “I san'^ about half the song, and then I said that I didn’t remem ber any more of it and refused to sing another note,” she com mented. “I loved every minute of it,” she said, “of course I always loved to show off.” Several student clubs will handle the Homecoming festivi ties this year. The Phalanx Club, under the direction of Mrs. Beth Biggerstaff, will con duct the presentation of the two Senior Homecoming Queens and their Court, two Sophomores and two Junior Queens. All six girls will enter the stadium at halftime on cars sponsored by Crest Ford. Male escorts for the six girls will present flowers to them and escort them off the field to the music of the Rocky Mount Senior High Band. _ The School Spirit Committee plans the daily events for Homecoming Week. Monday was Secret Desire Day when everybody dressed in costumes pertaining to what they have always wanted to be. Wednes day was Fifties Day. Thursday is Year 2078 Day when every one dresses in costumes of the future. Friday will be Blue-Gold Day when everyone dresses in the school colors. The Good Sports Club is selling Homecoming corsages during homeroom at $2.50 each. The corsages are gold mums with blue and gold ribbons. The Service Club handles the Homecoming mini-parade which wUl be presented at the pep rally tomorrow.
