However upon arriving in Appleton, the students will live with a host family and will not be expected to_pav for any of the activities SRA Babysitting Project Gave Good Experience The Student Representative Assemblies babysitting project conducted during the week of December 17th proved to be a most successful project says Chris Tant, chairman of the project. The project brought to gether many students, and through their volunteer help each person gained a most worthwhile experience. The week long babysitting service was held in a decorated (^boose on Main and Marigold Streets. The March of Dimes, Central City Revitalization Committee along with students of Senior High conducted the service to Christmas shoppers who could leave their children at the caboose while shopping. Chris Tant, chairman of the project, explained that coopera tion among students was great. Chris commented, “Everyone showed up, and the participa tion was superb.” According to Chris the ijro- ject could have been more successful financially if thie caboose had been in a dUferent location, for instance near Belk Tylers. There was no set fee for the service though the March of Dimes asked for donations. She also stated that the service might have brought more peo ple if advertising had been made to the public a little earlier. “It went kind of slow at first, but on Wednesday or Thursday people started com ing more,” said Chris. Edwards Junior High School’s in-house detent ion program has been approved for the remainder of the year by the School Board. A student guilty of a minor infraction of school rules will be reported from the student body and detained in a room where . his activities can be controlled and watched over. This action will replace the past disciplina ry action of suspension. Mr. Doug Watts, principal at Edwards, said, “Many students who formerly were suspended to the streets of Rocky Mount will remain in school involved in productive activities.
