PLAY DELIGHTS
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
INTERESTING CHAPEL
PROGRAM GIVEN
On Wednesday morning, February
25, the high school was very much
delighted with the chapel program. It
was under the direction of the Dra
matic Club, both Miss Riby’s and
Miss Brabham’s sections. The High
School song was first sung, after
which- a one-act play was given.
The name of the p’ay was “The
Rector,^’ present time, and in the
study of a country parsonage. The
characters were as follows:
Mr. Herresford—Wilcox Bright-
well.
Mrs. Lemmingworth—Lena Carter.
Miss Trimble—Ethel Coble.
Victoria Knox—Louise Parker.
Margaret Norton—Grace Pickier.
Mrs. Munsey—Mary Elizabeth
Efird.
Janie—Hettie Rollins.
The enjoyment of the play and the
appreciation of the Dramatic Club’s
effort was shown by the profound
silence and attention given through
the entire performance. We hope
that other clubs will give us some
more programs just as entertaining.

IN MEMORY OF GEORGE
WASHINGTON.
On February 24 some of the
classes gave George Washington pro
grams to keep his birthday on the
22. Appropriate songs were sung
bv the classes, talks were made on
the following subjects; Washington’s
Boyhood, Proofs of His Gentleness,
Bravery, Kindness and Love for Ani
mals, His Ideals, His Habits, His
Mottoes, His Military Life, His Life
as President, H's Home Life and How
the Spirit of : Washington Lives
Among us Today. It was also inter
esting to note in connection with
these programs the great world-wide
celebration that is to be held on Feb
ruary, 1932, Washington’s two hun-
dreth anniversary. All nations are
expected to participate, since it is be
lieved that Washington belongs not
cto us alone but to the whole world.
'•'His being the father of our country,
four peace and prosperity makes him
the uncle of all other nations.
“Yes, it’s really remarkable,” a
fond mother was explaining to her
guests. “Bobby seems to eat twice
as much chicken when we have visi
tors.”
Some one asked Bobby how he ac
counted for it.
‘‘Well because that’s the only time
we have chicken,” was Bobby’s dis
concerting reply.
At the regular chapel meeting on
Wednesday an interesting program
was given by the cartooning club.
Jack Floyd drew a historical pic
ture of George Washington behind
the barn. This was followed by a
.round pig drawn by the same'ama
teur artist. H-
Athur Moss then came out on the
stage to pose for a picture. Jack
Floyd, again displayed his skill by
drawing a picture of Mr. Moss in h'.s
old age.
Arthur drew a picture of a large
ape and we were informed that this
was Jack Floyd at the present.
This program was thoroughly en
joyed by the student body and we
have great hopes for the success of
the club.
One for the Old Timers.
