Page 10 THE FULL MOON TYPING CLASS Musicians Win Six Firsts In Contests First place was taken by Albe marle in six events at the state music contest held in Greensboro, April 18-21. Competing with other class A high schools, many much larger than A. H. S., highest rating was taken by the Boys’ Glee club, the mixed quartet, boys’ quartet, bass solo by Bill Mann, piano solo by Samuel Andrew, and tenor solo by C. B. Efird, Jr. Second place was taken by Bill Hough, baritone soloist, and Betty Jean Wolfe, junior high pianist, while C. B. Efird, Jr., took third place with a violin solo. Mr. Paul Fry was director of the vocal entries; Miss Annyce Worsham, the piano. Typing Student Wins In Contest First place was taken in the state commercial contest by Billie Kay Drye, a first-year student, who typed 49 words with no errors per minute for ten minutes. Other first-year typing entries were made by Tina Grigg, 56-6; Margie Lipe, 66-3. Entries made in the contest for second-year students were by Sue Coble, 64 words—2 errors; Jack Lowder, 64- 3; Iris Almond, 62-1. Shorthand entries for first-year students were made by Lois Mil- ton, Jack Lowder and Geraldine Foreman.
