To our janitor, Hailey, we leave, for him to sweep away, our foot prints on the floors of dear old Albemarle High. The 12th grade gives the remain der of its funds to Oron Julian Rog ers, wdth which he is to buy his long-cherished chicken farm. Bill Furr and Sara Lowder leave their courting spot at the back of the school in care of Mary Ellen Milton and Carl Fincher. To Miss Cockerham and Mr. Gehring, the student body as a whole wishes happiness and suc cess in their married life. To Josephine Beaver, Polly Mar tin, and head-cheerleader Deward Lefler, the 1940 cheerleaders will their sweaters. To Miss Laws, we leave Buck Mabry and Hod Shankle for her 12th grade again next year. To Polly Martin, from Katherine Drye and Doreen Evans, goes the abundance of natural curls. Jack Castevens leaves his good looks and ‘way with the women’ to Lafayette Blackwell. Ned Betts and Wade Underwood bestow the art of laziness to Dick Foreman. To any student who has a car which will fit, Robert Tucker leaves his eight yards of parking space in front of the school. Hurl Almond leaves his 7th grade Badin girl to Jimmy Peck. Maria Ehringer leaves her styl ishness to Sister Auten. Max Fesperman’s well-worn Concord highway is left to any student who becomes entranced by the beauty therein. To Sister Pocahontas, Mary Helen Meigs leaves here quietness and dependability. Skin Mauldin wills his height to Bob Redwine. Maestro Denning wills his fa mous orchestra to Elbert Mullinix. To Mary Ann Skidmore, Lydia Bowers leaves her smallness • of statue. Keith Almond bestows his love for “T” models to William Mor row, George Efird and Hamp Tal bert. To Polly Martin goes Elizabeth Jenkins’ and Lydia Bowers’ acting ability. Kat Whiteley wills her friendli ness to Margaret Deese. Hoyle Baton leaves his tempo rary permanent wave to John Ken nedy. Bill Benson and Kenneth Brooks give their model airplaces to Bill Gantt and Bill Morrow. To his nephew Gene, Bill Helms leaves his trumpet and vacant seat in the band. J. W. Lisk leaves his baseball to Sam Andrew. To Miss Elizabeth Polston is sadly left all the chewing gum un der chairs and desk. To the Juniors: Get the right kind of lipstick.
