Henry C. McFadyen, who has
recently tendered his resignation
after nine years as principal of
AHS, was honored at a banquet
given at Hotel Albemarle Mon
day night, April 24.
Mr. Wilson, acting for the
members of the faculty, present
ed the honor guest with a leather
briefcase and an electric razor as
a token of appreciation for the
service he has given AHS. Mr.
McFadyen received a rose bou
tonniere and his wife was pre
sented a gardenia corsage and a
brass vase filled with cacti.
In receiving these gifts Mr. Mc
Fadyen thanked the faculty for
their co-operation in the past.
In addition to the honor
guests, Mr. McFadyen and the
high school faculty, those pres
ent were Mr. Claud Grjgg, Mrs.
Paul Helms, Mrs. J. B. Morris,
Miss Ramelle Rummage and hus
bands of several of the faculty
members.
TEACHER
Of The Month
MRS. PEIFFER
The pretty, blue-eyed English
teacher with blondish-brown
hair and a sparkling personal
ity is our favorite faculty mem
ber this month because she is
working so hard to make the sen
ior play a success. Of course, it’s
Mrs. (Theresa-with-the-thrilling-
voice) Peiffer.
Sponsoring the Dramatics club,
even with A.H.S’s “talented” stu
dents, takes a lot of work, but
Mrs. Peiffer also teaches five En
glish classes daily and is active
in working with the sophomore
class.
Activities outside of school in
clude being a member of the Wo
man’s club and a Sunday school
teacher and a choir member at
the Reformed church in Landis,^
the home town which claims her
on week-ends. For hobbies, she
likes to sing, play the piano,
dance, and play bridge.
Students like a lot of things
about Mrs. Peiffer, too. They like
the way she can get and hold
the attention in her classes, the
way she can be lenient and yet
strict, and the way she makes
English seem so easy simply by
the way she teaches.
Mrs. Peiffer went to school at
Catawba college, taught for a
while in Anson county and in
Rowan county, taught at A.H.S.
for two years; and, after time out
for one year of marriage, she
and her husband came here,
where they have been teaching
for five years.
Even though our dramatics
coach likes steak, most all
sweets, and good hot breads, all
the boys will tell you, by a long
and loud whistle,' how nice she
looks in her favorite sports and
dress clothes.
Here’s the best to Mrs. Pfeiffer,
oiir Teacher-of-the-Month.
