Page 6 THE FULL MOON November, 1951 Queen, Parade, Dance Are Highlights Of Homecoming The highlight of homecoming on Oct 26 was when Paula Howard, elected homecoming queen by the football squad, was called forward at the half of the Statesville game, and Bruce Lowder, whom she sponsored, crowned her and presented her with a dozen red roses. Homecoming got off to a big start Friday afternoon, when the usual homecoming parade was held. The Boosters club put on the parade, with Jimmy Skid more in charge. The band, fol lowed by the cheerleaders, led the parade. Following the cheer leaders was a long string of dec orated cars driven by students. The parade halted at the square a few minutes and the cheer leaders led a couple of yells. At the half of the Statesville game ^the sponsors were intro duced as each walked through a big heart. The sponsors were: Ruth Ann Copley—Leslie Swan- ner; Paula Howard—Bruce Low der; Jeanette Dennis—Johnny Youngblood; Margaret Brunson —Keith Byrd; Harvey Ann Smith —Bud Griffith; Jo Haynes— Hamilton Morton; Jeffie Lee — Kenneth Rusell; Margie Stutts STILL OIL CO. Immediately a^ter the game a big homecoming dance was held in the student lounge. The dance w?is free to everyone, and a large number of A. H. 3. grad uates were there. The lounge was decorated in blue and white with different colored balloons. A drive down center is a smart play on the gridiron, but on the highway you're liable to be thrown for a loss. On the road you’ll score more on a safety than on a touchdown.
