Page 8 THE FULL M0OH April 10, 1952 Recent Programs Given By Chorus Besides their school activities, the mixed chorus, under the di rection of Mr. Fry, has been of great service to the community by singing at vorious clubs and churches. Because of their ability to sing, stage appearance, and co-op eration the chorus receives not only invitations from Albemarle but also from out of town. Re cently they have sung at the First Street Methodist church, First Baptist church. Rotary club, and Main Street Methodist church. The boys quartet, girls trio, and several solos are also included in the prograrns. At the recent church appear ances, the chorus sang “Lord, Thou Art Mighty,” “The Lord Bless You and Keep You,” and “For God So Loved the World.” The boys quartet sang “Be yond the Sunset” and “Sea Gypsy”. The girls trio sang “When Love Is Kind”. Marilyn Greene, David Morrow, J. C. Boone, and Arce Rose Rich were the soloists. On last Thursday the quartet, trio, and soloists participated in a radio program. Compliments of Nelle's 115 N. Mrs. Coble, home economics teacher, will accompany her two classes of second year students on an appreciation trip to the McSwain House of Antiques for the annual spring show. Mrs. McSwain will act as guide for the group and will point out things of interest. She will try to teach them how to identify antiques and tell them of the construc tion of hand made furniture. Of special interest will be the phase of the talk which deals with the making of the original pressed glass. SmtUa mmm Honor Delegates Go To Convention Two official and four unof ficial Honor Society delegates represented A.H.S. at the North Carolina State National Honor Society convention, which was held in Ashville, April 4 and 5. Martha Harris and Carolyn Williams were the official dele gates and Sue Redfern, Jane Russell, Jimmy Skidmore, and William Litaker were the un official delegates. The purpose of the convention was to elect the officers for the coming year and to elect a mem ber to represent them at the National Honor Society conven tion. They also elected members to serve on various committees for the coming year. Entertainment included an in formal dinner and a square dance given for the delegates Friday night. They returned home Saturday afternoon. A.H.S. She served as business manager of the student hand book and has been active in oth er college activities. Miriam was house president for one year. In high school she was tapped in to the National Honor Society, a delegate to Girls’ State,. and feature editor of “Full Moon”. Sally Beaver, the only junior tapped at W. C., has recently, been elected editor of the “Caro- linan”, the college newspaper. She has been an honor student during her three years at W. C. Sally was chosen to attend the National Student association at Chapel Hill. While at A.H.S., she was editor of the “Full Moon”, literary editor of “Cross roads”, “Who’s Who”, and vale dictorian. Joe Efird Whitley, has made an outstanding scholastic re cord at Wake Forest. He is en rolled in Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest col lege. Joe was also outstanding in A.H.S. He was on the “Cross roads” staff, president of French club, and a member‘of the Dra matics club and boosters club. Marion Sifford, former A.H.S. student, was recently elected vice-president of the student body at WCUNC. She is a rising senior and has been very active in college activities.
