Bulldogs Honored At Club Banquet The Albemarle Lions and Ro tarians were joint hosts on Jan uary 22 at a banquet honoring the members of the A.H.S. foot ball team and their coaches. The banquet, an annual affair, was held in the Central Elemen tary cafeteria. Bill Murray, head football coach of Duke Univer sity, was guest speaker. Other visiting coaches were Bob Span gler fof Catawba College and Clarence Stasavich of Lenoir Rhyne College. Coach Murray’s talk was on teamwork, in which he gave three rules for success of a play er in any game. The rules were: self-dedication, faith, and an unselfish spirit. By self-dedica- tion he meant you should give your all to anything you under take and be faithful to the cause. Finally, the boy who wants to go to the top must be willing to do whatever it takes to reach the goal. No player. Coach Murray cau tioned, will ever play the best he can in any game, but perfection, nevertheless, should be his am bition. During the course of his talk he mentioned several evils of the two-platoon system and pointed out why it was abolish ed. He also praised Coach Toby Webb and his assistants for the fine job of training that had been done with the Albemarle teams this year and in past years. He spoke of Coach Webb as one of the best high school coaches in the state. MODERN-DAY NURSEBY RYHME Jack and Jill Went up the hill To fetch a pail of water.
