THE FULL MOON

Sickness, Laziness, Weather
Have No Effect On Many
Spite of flu, colds, weather, and
the natural impluses to stay in
bed “just a minute longer,” these
people were present and on time
every day for the first semester.
Hardiest of students apparently
are ninth graders, who lead the
perfect attendance roll.

Pzogiam toi Club
Mrs. Saunders’ room enter
tained the Woman’s Club with a
program on the United Nations
on January 29. For several
months Mrs. Saunders’ room has
had a United Nations Club and
they have kept up with the lat
est events on the U. N. The club
gave the program exactly as a
U. N. meeting would be held,
with all the members present.
The program gave all the
members a chance to tell their
troubles and the latest events.
The room was arranged with the
desks in a semi-circle just like
the U. N.’s meeting room. Each
country represented had a card
on its desk with the name of
the country on it.
When this part of the program
was completed, the class gave a
patriotic program and some of
the class read some of their
English papers. After this, John
Robert Taylor sang “Yankee
Doodle Dandy” as the conclud
ing number of the program.

Cashwell Invited
To Attend Meet
At Chapel Hill
Mr. Cashwell is making plans
to attend a conference for teach
ers of school administration in
N. C. to be held in Chapel Hill
on March 9 and 10.
Participation is by invitation
only, the delegates being guests
of the university, with meals

mittee on Educational Admini
stration will participate in the
conference, and there will be
two representatives from each of
the colleges and universities
which give graduate courses in
school administration.
In one respect good citizen
ship and character resemble
measles and mumps. They are
generally caught by close con
tact with those who have them.

Chief Of Police
Is Guest Speaker
Guest speaker for the January
30 assembly program was Cniei
of Police, R. L. Furr. His topic
was law-enforcement officers as
friends. .
Chief Furr clearly stated tnai
policemen are not here to scare
people, especially children, out
rather for their safety. .He usea
several incidents to illustrate
this point. ,
The highway patrolmen, ^
explained, are there to keep tne
highways safe, not just
people tickets. He also *
out that guns are dangerous, du
even more so are automoDiie!^
and that while you are on tn
highway you have a part

Larry Yow, a member oi
