Exclusive Outfitters Science Contest At Raleigh In May Interested students of AHS are once more invited by the North Carolina Academy of Sci ence to enter the annual high school science contest at Mere dith College in Raleigh on May 8 and 9. Notice of entries must be sent to Dr. Mary E. Yarbrough at the college not later than April 15. Exhibits and essays of various sorts will make up the different classes, a few of which are liv ing or preserved plants and ani mals, models, and chemistry ex hibits. Essays on forestry and birds of value to the farmer will be accepted. Prizes range from $5 to $25. Anyone in high school is elig ible for entrance. Mrs. Lyke ex pressed the hopes of all in say ing that AHS should be able to carry off more than its share of the “loot.” ^ ^ , Dwayne Lowder won first place and $20 in the model class last year with a clay model “Survey of the Digestive System in the Animal Kingdom.” For ideas or suggestions, in terested persons may see Mrs. Lyke or R.
