Page 8 THE FULL MOON March 13, 1953^ Three Superiors Received By Soloists And Girls' Trio Solos and small choral groups were featured at the choral con tests held recently at Davidson college. A number of these groups were from A.H.S. With 25 schools competing, 21 superior ratings were given, and Albemarle received three of these. Only three superiors were given to groups and AHS re ceived one of these . . . the Girls’ Trio. J. C. Boone, and Arce Rose Rich received superiors in the solo division. Those receiving excellent ratings were Elaine Lowder and Ted Burleson. Other groups and solos com peting were the junior and sen ior Boys’ Quartets and the Girls’ Ensembles, Larry Tucker, Sue Rogers, Billy Lowder and George Lowder. Mr. Fry was well pleased by the grades that the groups made. The Mixed Chorus and the Ninth Grade Choir will go to Boyden high in Salisbury on March 13 to sing with the larger groups. Triangle Debaters Have Been Chosen The contestants have been chosen to represent AHS in tri angular debates on March 27. Jimmy Griffin and Georgia Beaver are on the affirmative team, while Claud Grigg and Ann Ivey are the negative. The topic of the debate is “Resolved: that the Atlantic Pact Nations Should Form a Federal Union.” Albemarle is in a triangle with Lexington and Harding high. The affirmative teams will debate at their home school with Lexington’s negative team coming to Albemarle. Albe marle’s negative team is going to Harding high, and Harding high’s negative team is going to Lexington. Mrs. A. S. Lynn is the coach for the affirmative team of AHS and Mrs. Paul B.
