October 2, 1953 THE FULL MOON Page 3 Council Corner A new addition to the student store will be built before the end of next month. Mr. Morris has agreed to build the new section to hold the juke box, which will be moved down on to the floor of the lounge, and surplus stock from the student store. Unbecoming conduct will not be allowed in the lounge from now on. A poster containing de tails will be posted on the student store. Authority to go ahead with the decoration of the student lounge has been given to Lydia Hall and Mr. Pendergraft. Murals and prints of prominent high school students will be painted on the Walls. FINANCIAL REPORT Because of the concession on the football field, it would be impossible to take a full inven tory of the student store, but We do have invoices of everything that has been bought. Including ping pong paddles, nets, balls, one stapler, ice, and the deposit on bottles which will be brought back, the total in voice is $421.31. With 93 cents in the bank at the beginning of the year, we now have a total of $508.02. Aft er all bills are paid there will be a balance of $86.71 in the bank with over $100 of stock in the store. This inventory was taken on September 14, 1953. LARRY HARTSELL Treasurer LOST—A ’52 A.H.S. ring and a black and silver Parker ’21 Pen, both with sentimental value. That’s dad’s rooni. For Pete’s sake don’t wake him.” I hardly got it said when— CRASH! BANG! OUCH! “Turn on the light, quick; I stumbled over a chair.” After all the pieces were once aeain gathered, the crowd was off to the kitchen. “10-11-12, phew, we’re all here. Now for the food! Ellen, see what you can find in the refrigerator; Ann, open the drinks; and Pigmy, look in the pantry and get that jar of dill pickles.” As Pigmy opened the door, a small creature plunged into the room. A-A-A-H-H-H-H, a mouse! As this statement reached each lame brain, a wild scramble was made for the one and only chair. Pigmy quickly leaped into the cind was almost \vashed down the drain; Sylvia was half way in the stove, and Bobby had one toe hanging out of the cup board. After the creature had caused the twelve girls to do all the destruction a locomotive could, he crept out (more fright ened than the girls, I expect). Everyone, settled down and stuffed themselves to the brim. Now came the time for the round table of gossip. During our long conversation, however, our dear Send, Sylvia had hit the hay and was sound asleep. Can you brieve Sylvia would sleep while thTJossiP was on? Shame on Sylvia. It was just five o’cl^ock, and after all she didn’t have to go to work until nine. Plans were made to wake the POor ole wnrkine gal up. Yes, that s right' We all leaped on her, pulled her hair and did every^ thing but strangle her. The rooni was now filled with laugh ter and noise! It took several pass for Pigmy, Sylvia, Dixie, Ind Emily, to quiet the room down to normal tone. That was all poor ole Mom fflkG She C3.rn^ ftnd ordered, “Please be quiet. Your poof ole Dad has to work to morrow.” So we decided to turn the lights off and let the sandman doJiis duty. After four years of cheerleading, Mar garet has become the ringmaster of the eight. “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most deserving of them all?” Margaret was proved to be the most deserving and the cutest as she was crowned “Homecom ing Queen” last year. Popular Margaret has been a football sponsor for five years now. Margaret’s interest doesn’t lie only in sports but also in dra matics. I'm sure you remember her as “Mimi” in Jerry of Jericho Road, and who could ever for get her in that hilarious role of “Patsy” in the junior class play, Oh, Promise Me? Such parts as these make up one of the qual ities that makes Margaret such an ideal person to be president of the Black Masque this year. The Mixed Chorus and Girls’ Ensemble couldn’t get along without Margaret's contribution to the alto section. She was re cently asked to join the Modern Music Masters society because of her great achievements and con tributions to music. Just set Margaret down, any time, to a dinner consisting of fried chicken and a salad and watch that grin appear. How ever, I don’t believe you’ll see her chase any food away, even squash! Ugh! Whenever Mar garet isn't at Harmanco's or play ing bridge, you will probably find her swooning over Charlton Hes ton, her ideal man, or reading about Susan Hayward. Speaking of her ideals, her favorite person must be sincere, kind, under standing, friendly, and must not like snakes. Next year we will find Mar garet on the campus of Salem college, where she will spread her love, friendship and kind ness even further. Three RAHS for Margaret! m THE CITY BARBER SHOP All Patronage Appreciated — BARBERS — Henry Thompson Lester Disk J. W. Sides RICHARD JORDAN “Who’s the new boy from Thomasville?” was a familiar question last year, but it didn’t take long for everyone to find out. Before long Richard Jordan became one of the most popular boys around A.H.S. His class soon became aware of his fine qualities and elected him Chief Marshal. It wasn’t long, however, be fore the entire school realized Richard was a hard working, de pendable boy. They therefore elected him president of the stu dent body. Treasurer of the State Student Council Congress and chairman of Fifth District Stu dent Councils are two more hon ors held by this deserving sen ior. He’s also the fellow you hear making the announcements on the sound system every day. Now do you understand why you see him rushing up and down the halls so much? Richard has contributed much of his athletic ability to A.H.S. since moving to Albemarle. He is outstanding in football, basket ball, and baseball. The man playing end on the football team that you see scoring so many touchdowns is none other than Richard. You can expect him to star in basketball and baseball later in the season. When a picture stars James Stuart and June Allyson, you can be sure Richard will be on the front row; and when steak and strawberry shortcake are on the menu, he’s a mighty satisfied fellow. Richard seems to have a certain interest at W. C. this year. Could it be a cute looking fresh man that he’s interested in? How happy Richard would be if there were no such thing as an alarm clock! If there’s anything he hates, it's to get up in the morn ing. Either Davidson or the Citadel will be the lucky college to claim Richard next year, but wherever he goes, everyone knows Richard will be a leader of his class. How could he help but be with his friendly smile and winning per sonality! Masters Sponsor Second Big Dance The Music Masters sponsored a dance after the game with Kan napolis on Friday night. Students from both Albemarle and Kannapolis turned out well for the dance. Mr. Hatley, one of the advisors for the club, said that the dance was a success and put the Music Masters in a better financial con dition. The chaperones were Miss Bankett, Mr. Fry, and Mr. Spen cer Hatley. As usual, Mrs. Lyke was in charge of the store.
