May, 1955 THE FULL MOON Page 5 AHS Track Team Loses To Raiders A.H.S. trackmen were defeated last Thursday by Lexington High’s track team by a score of 51 to 38. This was the first track meet of the year for Albemarle. Wade Smith was the big gun for the A.H.S. team. He won first place in the 100 yard dash and the broad jump, and second place in the 220 yard dash, piling up a total of 13 points himself. Larry Lisk placed second in the high jump and the shot put. He was also on the mile relay team, which consisted of Joe Kluttz, Charlie B. Smith, and Punk Gantt. Skipper Gantt won second place in the 100 yard dash and third in the broad jump. Edshay Brunson finished sec ond place in the 440 yard dash, Ronald Crawley won second place m the 880 yard dash, while Ron ald Hudson crossed the finish line second in the mile run. Jerry Lowder rounded off the slate by placing second in the discus throw. A good reputation always proves to be good business capital. The project won first place in the biologi cal science division of the District Science Fair at Salisbury Saturday and will be entered in the state contest to be held at Duke University next week-end. Wilhoit’s sending and receiv ing radio set will be displayed among the many other projects. Johnny Richardson has construct ed a Jacob’s ladder which Mr. Hatley says doesn’t completely reach the sky.
