Attendance High At Science Fair The annual' Albemarle High School Science Fair drew a large crowd of scientific minded Albe marle people to its shows on May 8 and 9. Mr. R. C. Hatley, head of the chemistry and physics depart ments, Mrs. Saunders, head of the general science department, and Mrs. I^yke, head of the biology de partment, stated that approxi mately 17 hundred visitors, of whom a large part were adults, visited the fair duirng the two- day period. Eighth graders from the city schools and high school students from all over the county helped to make the fair a great success. Over three hundred and thirty- four different projects, ranging from a photosynthesis display all the way down to a jet engine, were on display to astonish and entertain the public. Betty Hall Chosen Cheerers' Chief Betty Hall was chosen by the present cheerleaders to be chief next year. At the meeting of the Boosters Club Friday after school cheer leaders were elected for next year. The rising junior cheerleaders are Barbara Burleson and Myrna Mills. Sara Hinson from Central will be the freshman. Saundra Poplin will replace Betty Hall. The graduating cheerleaders are Charlotte Pope, chief, Elaine Mills, and Gerry Saunders. Buy U. S.
