Latest of these was the Char lotte Observer, which commented, “This combination of sound coaching and fierce pride has sent his Albemarle football squad rolling toward what well may be another of its unbeaten seasons. “What’s the secret behind this team? ... “First, it’s talent, a must for every coach, regardless of his ability. However, talent, like a gold nugget, must be uncovered, worked upon and shined to a fine degree before it is useful. “Here Webb is a master. “This is the cream of what he has—a bull dozer of a fullback in Whitley, a fine runner and passer in tailback Graham Har wood, a ‘real fine boy’ in tackle Wayne Spivey and a mountain of a man in 245-pound guard James Johnson.' “Add to these linemen Tom Murrell and Stanley Lawhon, and linebacker A1 Fusonie, (who transferred from Pennsylvania and has helped us a lot), and you have, in the main, the reason the Bulldogs haven’t come close to losing a game.” bulldog defense in action—Albemarle is trying in vain to hew from making a TD.
