THE FULL MOON SENIOR SUPPLEMENT
May 25, 1972
“Dedicated To Freedom”
My eyes don’t deceive me
That’s the world that I see.
As I look I can see
That it’s harsh and it’s cold.
I ask myself
“When did it get to be
That way?”
The gingerbread castles
Came tumbling down
And the sugarplum fairies
Went away.
And I’m left here without you
On the cold winter ground
And the people seem so far away.
If I could you know
I’d make it so
Our lives would be
Unmarred by all the things
That make men grey.
And things that make them
Grow old.
But I can’t.
The gingerbread castles
Came tumbling down
And the sugarplum fairies
Went away.
And I’m left here without you
On the cold winter ground
And the people seem so far away
If you hear what I’m sayin’
And you know what I mean
Then you probably feel as I do.
You’ve chased after rainbows,
You’ve hung onto dreams.
But you lost it ail in one day.
The gingerbread castles
Are tumbling down
And the sugarplum fairies
Are going away.

Albemarle a warm goodbye.

Working Together Made 72 The Best
Remember?
Recently seniors recounted
their most memorable moment
at Senior High. Some said that all
of it was memorable, and they
couldn’t think of just one
moment. Others remarked
nothing was memorable;
however, most seniors selected
one moment fairly easily. Here
are some of the responses;
Reid Squires: the day I walked
out on the stage in my diaper.
Diane Laton: the day our
English class put on Macbeth.
Benjie Rummage: the day I got
Mrs. Weydell as a teacher.
Cindy Kelly: the day I met
Roger.
Marcia Carlson: getting
thrown off the annual staff.
Mike Palmer; getting out.
Mark Andrew: when I missed
the final free throw to lose the
South Stanly game 42-41.
Linda Almond; the day the
annuals came.
Donnie Hamilton; Honor
Society Refusal.
Lynn Chivington: playing pitty-
patty with Eddie at lunch.
John Qark: being crowned
“Homecoming Queen.”
Joy Early; the first day of
Senior week as a sophomore.
William Hill; the day I saw
Linda*^s tulips rising.
Jorge Moutous: my last
football game.
Steve Hill: filling out this
questionnaire.
Ladonna Craig: the day I fell
down the stairs and lost the heels
off my shoes.
Linda Bogle: ?
Dana Ross: bomb scares.
Alicia Thomas: losing
cheerleading.
Phillip Lowder: 3:05.
Gil Johnson: the day Mr.
Hawkins wasn’t here.
Eric Furr; the senior talent
show.
Tootie Kimmer: the day Butch
Walker and I cut our earth
worm into about six pieces and
Mr. Smith saw it.
Peggy Wagoner: the very last
moment.

Now the day of leaving
very close. That day, that looked
so iaT yesterday and today, is
very near.
It seems to me that it was
yesterday when I came here and,
with my poor English, tried to
understand foot-ball, do my
home-work, or ask for a ride
home-tried to understand why
thisor why that. And day by day,
week after week, the year is
almost gone- a lot of new ex
periences, and many things have
gone; days of smiles, and hght;
and those days not so happy in
which I cried.
A field-goal, homecoming, the
prom. A track meet, and orchid,
and a song. Things that forever
will stay in my heart: a family,
many friends, and the hope of
sometime coming back to say
hello.
So many days are gone.
And now not much more way to
go. My words won’t be enough to
say how much I thank you all for
being so nice, so wonderful to me.
I will always remember all of
you; the jokes of every day, or
somebody calling me
“Mongoose” (!) or “Spic.” The
snow, which let us get out of
school, and the donuts in the cold
morning. And for sure, I won’t
forget the lunches, so “exotic”
and “unreal.”
Everything has become part of
me, and it will be hard to leave,
perhaps forever.
When the time of leaving starts
getting closer, my heart gets sore
of only thinking how much I leave
behind. But that is the way it
comes.
In this, my last article for the
Full Moon, I want to give thanks
to everyone who helped to make
this year the greatest of my life.
To those who, in some way,
perhaps hurt, I beg their pardons.
And again, thanks.
God bless you!
