Mr. Moran to Wed on FCA Beach Trip
By Meonne Blalock
The waves and not the bells wUl be ringing on April 2,1991, at Myrtle Beach, S.C., at 2:00 PM
on, not the Love Boat, but the Love Pier. Mr. Moran has found the girl of his dreams - finally. This
is a very special date which will always be remembered by Mr. Gary Moran, drama teacher at AHS,
and Miss Donna McMillan, as they exchange their vows of true love. A special contribution has been
added to their wedding with much thanks to Mr. Hedrick and the AHS band, as they took time to put
together a song that starts off with the words "We’re going to the pier on the beach... and we're gomg
to get married ...", very similar to the song "Going to the Qiapel. . . •
Miss Donna McMillan would not teU her age but says that she is old enou^ to know what she is
getting into but young enough to... She has taught music and worked on a cruise ship as a smger and
dancer. Miss McMillan and Mr. Moran met during their performance in Knoxville, T^esse, at the
World’s Fair when they had to sing together inharmony. They began dating nght away for it was love
at first bite - no wait, pardon me - it was love at first sight. Because of Miss McMillan s excepUonal
talent she moved to New York to try to make it big on Broadway, but smce she could not live wi^t
seeing her "man", she returned to the smaller version of New York, Albemarle, and they have been
dating ever since. The two of them plan to fulfill their multiple talented dreams by havmg theff own
musical variety show traveling around the worid. They hope to visit Bangkok, France, Egypt, and
Saudi Arabia on their first tour. , . r-/-» v u

School for 12 Months?
By Meonne Blalock
Attention students: changes are coming.
^Hiring the 1991-92 school year a proposed
educational plan will be put into effect to raise
student academic performance. The entire stu
dent body will be div ided into two groups by their
student numbers. If a student’s number ends in an
®ven digit, he/she will go to school year round,
being out three weeks after each nine week grad
ing period. If a student’s number ends with an
digit, he/she will attend school on a regular
schedule without making any major changes. At
•he end of one school year,.the students test
scores from both groups will be evaluated to see
'''Wch method of learning works best
School board members strongly believe that
*his new procedure will be increase test scores,
^ith the Icaming process following a continual
pattern without a break for the summer months,
*he members feel that the students will remember
tnore and improve their grades.
So, check out your student number! If you re
even, you'll go to school year round! Odd num
bers, you’re safe!

Investigative reporters for the Full Moon have
uncovered a major scandal at AHS! Remember
on Valentine’s Day when the English and Home
Ec rooms were sujjposedly flooded because of a
plumber’s mistake? Well, it was no plumber’s
mistake. Reporters Jason Hazlett and Bill
Aldridge did a bit of snooping since they were
forced to miss their favorite of all subjects,
English. It seems that Virgil, in the company of
Jonathan Bowers, had discovered an old still
imder the school in an old boiler room. Have you
ever noticed the little door right outside Mrs.
Almond’s guidance office toward the steps? Well,
Jonathan happened to open the door one day
during luiKh when he had nothing better to do,
and brilliant deductive mind that he is, he in
stantly recognized the pipes and banels of an old
still leftover from the days of Jeff Hartsell andhis
cronies, way back in the fifties and sixties. Jon
athan immediately showed the still to V irgil, who
ascertained that it was still in working order. In
unison, Jonathan and Virgil looked at each other
and yelled, “Let’s make some white lightnin’!”
Since they are well versed in the techniques
for brewing certain beverages, Jonathan and Virgil
had a prime batch ready in no time, but all of a
sudden they realized a problem. They could not
haul it out in canning jars or Robo would surely
nab them. Pondering their dilemna, Virgil sud
denly broke into a huge smile and Jonathan read
his mind! Why not tq> the still into the school
plumbing and let everyone at AHS have a Valen
tine’s Day to remember? So in the process of
wiling the water fountains on the English and
Home Ec halls, this old rusty plumbing spnmg a
leak. Unable to stop the flow of lightnin’, Jon
athan and Virgil enjoyed a few sips of their
masterpiece and took off. Later, school officials
discovered the “flood” and ... well, why do you
think they wouldn’t allow anyone on the hall
until mid-day? Anyway, Jonathan and Virgil
pleaded the fifth ( of lightnin’?) and since the
office and staff had enjoyed the mistake so much,
the case was put to rest, and the still was pad
locked, until thirty more years ... and then, who
knows?

Graduation Changed to June 7
Graduation date has been changed to June 7.199 L The reason for this is that the parents from
the county schools passed a petition around stating that Albemarle City Schools should not be
allowedtoproceed with graduation ceremonies until the day of June 7,1991 so as to coincide with
the county schools.
The petition had over 900 signatures in protest to the May 31,1991 graduation. A secret city
council meeting was held and the petition passed unanimously.
AHS parents are very upset with this gesture, so at 7:00 P.M. on April 31, a meeting will be
held in the school auditorium. We ask that all of you have your parmts to attend because
something has to be done about this matter immediately. The county cannot dictate to us when
we graduate! After all, we have beach reservations made and dqmsits at risk!
