Flirting for Fun by Laura Smith Have you ever wondered why that guy that’s sitting across the room is staring at you? Guys, do you ever notice that girl who goes out of her way just to walk past you? If you haven’t then WAKE UP and join the world of flirting. Those of you that do notice these little signs of affection already realize what’s going on. These signals passed back and forth between males and females are a common way of flirting. Are you one that smiles or winks at every girl/boy that passes? Do you find yourself only interested in talking to people of the opposite sex? Have p>eople ever referred to you as girl or boy crazy? If so, you may be thought of as a flirt! Though flirting is considered as a harmless little tactic to get someones attention, it can cause trouble. All you fellas that have jealous girlfriends, you better watch out and cut down on the flirting, or you may end up alone. For all you girls that like to flirt, be careful not to give guys the wrong idea. Since there are many variations of flirting be careful how Ced puts the move on Danyel. far you take it It may be considered sexual harassment. Flirt all you want and have fun with it but be sure to stay in the proper limitations. Loi^0cC or Lonety By Emily Stonestreet The mere thought of Valentine’s Day conjures up different emotions for everyone. Groupedcon- tentedly at one end of the spectrum are the “perfect couples.” You know, the ones that never fight arid seem to breeze through every day blissfully happy. For these starry-eyed lovers, February 14th prom ises to be a day of pure pleasure. On the opposite end of the spectrum are those less fortunate souls who have never had the opjwrtunity to experience love first hand. The only knowledge they have of this yet unknown pleasure may very well have been extracted from one of those mushy-supermarket- love-novels. For them, February 14th marks the bleakest, and by far, the most dreaded day of the year. Walking through the halls of good old Albe marle High School, one has to wonder is “perfect couples" even exist. On Monday, the “sweetest couple in the world” may be seen engaging in a loving conversation. But who knows, by Wednes day the very same couple may be heard screaming obscenities at each other from opposite ends of the hall. And can you honestly name one person who has never even had a tiny crush on somebody else? Probably noL Mostpeople find that their love-level falls in one of the many shades of gray between “perfect” and “nonexistent.” While many teenagers view dating as a game, there are those who approach it with a much more serious attitude. Take this quiz to find out how your love life ranks: * Is it possible to spend and entire day with your boyfriend/girlfriend without fighting? * Are you willing to agree to disagree? * Is your relationship based on trust? * Can you carry on a serious conversation with him/her? * Are the two of you friends as well? * Do you have fun together no matter what you are doing? * When you are at fault during an argument, do you set aside your pride and apologize? * Are you always 100% faithful? * Do you feel totally at ease with him/her? * Can you name at least ten of his/her favorite things? * Do you remember special occasions the two of you have shared? * Do you act the same around him/her as you do around your friends? * Does the relationship bring out the best in you? * Do you get along more of the time than you fight? If you answered “YES” to the majority of the que$tions above, then chances are, your relation ship is on the right track. If you did not, you may need to evaluate your relationship a little more closely. Happy Valentine’s Day! Cott£fuIt Taurus (Apr. 21-May 21) Be careful what you ask for, you just may getit.
