ALBEMARLE HIGH NEWSPAPER 311 Park Ridge Road Albemarle NC 28001 Volume 60, No. 3 FULL MOON 982-3711 YVC CHAMPIONS! On Friday, November 4, the Albemarle Bull dogs ended their conference season with a per fect 11-0 record, a feat not accomplished at AHS since 1957. Having played one of the most special games of their lives, the Bulldog team members had a few words to say about their great victory. Mike “Deuce” Carrickhoff - So far, that game was the biggest of my life. This was the game I have been dreaming of playing in since my fresh man year. Two undefeated teams playing in the last week of the season, in front of6,000 devoted fans, for the conference championship and we pulled it off in overtime. I haven’t been on a team that has pulled together to become a “FAMILY” as much as this one. I'd like to thank our "FAMILY," our coaches, the booster club, the fans, and especially Coach Caster for a dream come true. Jonathan Pegues - It was a game I will never forget. It was a game of big plays and great blocking on the line. Ken Covington - It was the best and biggest game I have ever been in since players used their noses as face masks. Wesley Burris - I am proud to be a part of the first team ever to come out of a regular season with an 11-0 record. Brico Flake - I, myself, had a few butterflies at first, but as the game started, I felt more comfort able as if it were a regular game. This was a great experience for the team andmyself to go through. The most memorable thing will be the pass I caught, and scoring the winning touchdown with the help of Ced and Tory. Brian Wilson - Hard work really does pay off. Travis Caster - This game was dedicated totally to Jeff. It was great for our team to beat my old teammates, but we still have five more steps in the ladder of success. I would personally like to congratulate our family for a great game. Zach Harrison - These Dogs have karma. Robby Bennett - The game was full of adversity. 6,000 people cheered. We won with discipline, dedication, desire, pride, and heart. 28-21 says it all. Cocoa McKinney -1 felt that we were ready to do the job that we had to do so we went out and gave it our best. Gresham Wilhelm - When North Rowan scored with three minutes left in the game, I knew we would score again, and the belter team would come out on TOP!!! > Cedric Baldwin -1 didn't know what to think, with all the jjeople there. I couldn't tell if it was a college game or what, but when Brico scored that wiiming touchdown and I gave a block, I NOVEMBER 1994 knew we had won. Mondarius Henry - We finally earned our re spect, and at the same time kicked some new flava in ya ear. Larry Lynch -1 think this game came down to the team that wanted it more. We got the biggest win inourcareer for Jeff, our fans, and our whole Bulldog family. Antonio Lilly - I couldn’t believe it! All the hard work we put into practice came down to one big play and boom, the game was over and i t paid off. PJ. Kluttz - It was the biggest game in the state. Two undefeated teams were playing. You have to be ready for the big game. If you can’t get up for it, you might as well stay at home. This is what we practiced for, a chance at the YVC title. Alvis James -1 felt like a champion because I knew we were going down in history.
