The Mountain Trail April 28, 1939 THE FIRST GRADE EAPTER V'e had a good timo Easter. We had an egg hunt, Marie Miller won first prize, Earl Baty won second prize; and Louise Henry, second prize. “Howard Lov;e THE EASTER RABBIT’S VISIT Ve made little paper baskets and put little rabbits on them. ViTien we went out to hunt our eggs we left them on our ta bles to dry. T'/hile we were gone the East er Bunny came and left a toy rabbit and candy in every basket, -Kathleen Potts Mary Deas Anderson has come back from Florida, Vfe will be glad to see her ivhen she comes to school, -Hazel McCall Ray Reese is at home. He has measles, -Billy Bryson Louise Jenkins has been sick.Her tooth aches. “J. L. Crane Henrietta Talley and Edna Crane are sick with colds, -Edna May Lee THE SECOND GR/iDE TEE EASTER BTJNNY The Easter Bunny brings us pretty eggs every year. He hides them and lets us himt them, I like to eat them too. We Iinve novor seen him hide them, and I i^uoss we never will, -Mary Phillips OTJR HUNT We had our Easter egg hunt Monday, Helen Jenkins got the prize for finding the most, We dyed eggs at school, Ernest Wobb and Harry Holt got the prize for the boys, Bernice Zachary and Lois Hung er hid the eggs, -Dori^/ Munger BIRDS We have been reading about birds. V/e drew a v/ood thrush. His back is brown. His breast is ivhite, and he has brown specks on him. The robin has v/hite under his neck. The robin is the bird that I like best, -Billy Waller ROBINS We learned some songs about Robins. I savr some Saturday, They were hopping in the yard. We have some pictures of birds in the Second Grade, -Maxine Tnlley FLOrURS Spring is almost here. We are going to plant a flower garden before long, I hope many people will stop and see the flowers. We have many kinds of plants. -Eula Crane HOI": THINGS GROW Our Science Reader told us some things to do v;ith seeds. The mother seed gives the little seed food until the roots gro\7. ,'e planted some bean seed in a ' glass so we could see the roots. -Bill Speed
