S,_ Forest Service, with the assistance of Civilian Conservation corps enrolloes and th© Works Progress Administration. The opening will feature a free ‘bar becue, speaking program and contests. Th© celebration will begin about one o'clock in the afternoon, vdth contests in swimming, mountain climbing, horse shoe pitching, fiddling, etc. Prizes will be awarded the winners. Plans for the celebration have been worked out by the chambers of Commerce in Highlands and Franklin, the High lands Lions Club and the Franklin Ro tary club. W. Arthur Hoffman doing the preaching. The music at this revival will be led by Guy Paul, Jr. POSTOFFICE CLOSES Beginning Saturday, the 22nd, the post- office will close at 3 o’clock in the af ternoon# - on Saturdays* baptist CHTJRCH to HOLD LABffiN’S SERVICE The Baptist church will hold a spe cial laymen’s service next Sunday night, July 23, led by R. R. King‘of King's Inn. The church extends a cordial invitation to the people of Highlands to attend this service.Special music will be a part of the program. Rev. and Mrs. J. G. Benfield will leave directly after the Sunday morn ing service for Atlanta to attend the Bap tist World Alliance. This church will begin a week’s revival Wednesday night, July 26, with the Rev. GLENVILLE LOSES TO HIGHLANDS The Highlands baseball team won over the Glenville team on the home field with a score of 18 to 9 last Sunday afternoon. Batteries for Highlands were Beal and McKinney, and for Glennville, Moss and Robertson. Highlajids second team played Cashiers on the Cashiers field the same afternoon, winning with a score of 15 to 10. A feat ure of this gome was the home run made by Leslie Reeso, said to be the longest ball over hit on tha1^ field. Highlands is scheduled to play an Ander son, S,C., team here next Sunday after»i' noon.
