BOBBY BREEN STARRED IN EXCITING STORY
OF LOUISIxJJA’S COLORFUL BAYOU COUNTRY
Bringing to the screen with abundant
color a segment of life in the old South
littlo known to present day audiences,
’HVny Down South” with Bobby Breen as its
star will open next Monday at the High
lands School Theatre,
The story is laid in Louisiana's bayou
country, is richly endowed with entertain-
value. Beloved old spiritual and tradi
tional songs of the pre-Civil War era com
bine with the staging of traditional dance
festivals to make the picture a melodic
triumph. Its plot carries much human in
terest with the tale of a lad whose heart
goes out to those less fortunate than he
and his stout efforts to maintain on his
vast plantation the happiness and peace
which are the heritage of its slaves.
Of tho seven pictures in v/hich ho has •
starred, young Breen’s voice in this is
said to be more charming and mellow than
ever bdfore. With a new sureness in his
presentation of songs, imder the direc
tion of Bernard Vorhaus, he demonstrates
also that he is becoming an increasingly
good actor.
