We have forty-three in our room. -Lena Crane Coming to Highlands to School I went to school at Scaly last year. I like school at Highlands thoucph it is flifferent. Here v/e have a teacher for each n-rade. We also have motion picture shows. Some of us had never seen a motion Picture until this year. We like to ride the bus. I like, ^jiy teacher too. She is kind to us* I like the Ssmes wo play. My teacher plays with us. If I always like to come a.3 ^'^ell as I do now, I will finish hifTh school here. -Regina Burnette Making Ships The Fifth Grade made some ships for reading. The teacher said that Llgon Creswell’s was the best • one ^ade. He put his together with clips and stiff cardboard. He made the Mayflower. We are studying ^bout it in history. Game 11 Owens had a good one also. We have them On the sand table now. Some of tho sails would not stay on. Wo had to Paste them on, -Evelyn Phillips My Vacation Throughout my vacation this sum - ^er I made a garden. I had some ^‘lowers which were very pretty. I ’’forked in tho field some of the ti-ne. I am glad I can come to Hig^hlands to school this year. I went to Clear Creek last year. -Gladys Neely THE FOURTH GRADE Fourth Grade Geography We are proud of our geography in the Fourth Grade. We are study ing about the Tigris and theEuph- rates rivers. We pretended that we came up the rivers in a steam boat. %en v/e reached tho desert we v/ent with some men and their camels. We called that a caravan. The men carried sugar, coffee, dates, and figs for food. Houses are built of sundried bricks and have flat roofs. This is because they have little rain fall. Flocks of sheep and goats live in the land between the rivers. The flock are taken from place to place to find food. Little girls and boys help in this work, -Anne Anderson o THE SECOND GRADE There are forty-five pupils in the Second Grade. At first v/e had only thirty-oight pupils. We have seven nev/ pupils. We have had four visitors.
