A PLEA FOR SUPPORT
We are for the second year going
to publish the "Mountain Trail,”
which we think helps the community
to know more about what v/e are do -
ing in school, especially the peop
le v/ho haven’t children in school..
In piiblishin.p: the paper we need
the help of everyone in the com
munity in one v/ay or another. Some
may have ideas which will be of
benefit to us. ^'/e will be glad for
anyone to help us in r.ny way that
he can, even if it is only through
a word of encouragement.
To some a new/spaper may seem use
less and uneducational, but this
is not true in any respect. Various
benefits are derived and newquest-
ions arise that help the students
and all working v;ith the paper.
Pupils receive needed experience
managing the financial part of the
work.
Previous to the work of the
school paper, many had an idea (A.
vague one) as to the meaning of
newspaper wor’^. They knen^ that an
editorial was a part of the paper,
but if asked what it was, there
would be only a few who could ans
wer intelligently. The school pap
er teaches v/hat these thinrs are
hj bringin.fr- them constantl37- befoi
the pupil. Pupils write them and
it cremates an interest in school
work. It keeps the school ideals
uppermost in the minds of the pup
ils and mfikes the school better fr
it.
Those are all great helps, but
there is still another and even
more important side and this is
*'It unites and brin^,s the home
and the school closer together."
People \fiho have previously had
no interest in the school are
reached and brought in close con
tact with the various activities
of the school. Parents receive
inf or nation about the school thejr
would not otherwise have received*
All of those v/ho are concerned
with the v/riting, reading, or any
part of the ne\'>nspaper cannot truth
fully say,"I have received no be
nefit from the hin:h school paper."
