The Mountain Trail Pap;e 6 October 27, 1959 diets v/ho feel that they must have it. These people v/ho are so hopeless ly drawn into slavery by this drug find it very hard to get or keep a job. Moreover, they feel that they must have five dollars a day, at least, even if they must steal or murder for it, for that is the cost daily to satisfy their needs. Our prisons and insane asylums are filled with such as these to-day. Boys and girls, we are the adults of tomorrow, shall v/e through ig norance be led astray to join the crowd of addicts, or shall we be come worthy citizens of America and prove that this is the home of the brave and the free? -Nancy Potts o SIXTH GRADE The Sixth Grade has begun the study of v/ords and their history. Each day we find five nev/ words v/e do not know the meaning of and have not used in speech before. We keep them in a notebook. At the . * end of each month we are to have in our notebook one hundred new words, the meaning of them, where we found them, and why we are in terested in them. Words are a very interesting study. -Barbara Zoellner The Indian Fair As soon as Mack and I got out of school on Friday, we were met by Mom and Caroline. We had a nice ride over there. When v/e came to a tourist camp, we stopped and got a cabin. As soon as v/e had our things out of the car, we went on to the fair. When v/e got to the fair, we saw the exhibits, then v/e had supper, after v/hich we rode on some of the rides. Then we played some Bingo and wont back to the tourist camp about twelve o’clock. The next day v/e v/ent to Knoxville We saw many thinp;s in Knoxville. We got back home about six o’clock -Peggy Potts o FOURTH GRADE We read a book every month. We do not get our report cards until v/e have . I am reading Sonny Elep hant nov/. We read the book then write a short story about v/hat we have read. Wo check out books on Monday and Friday. After we read the book v/o check it back in. -Carlton Crane The Indian Shov/ We saw how the Indians heal the sick. They had a real Indian Prin cess and two Indian Chiefs. The two Indian Chiefs did the war dance. They had a good band with them. -Edna Norton Sara Hall had her tonsils and adenoids removed Saturday. She has missed three days of school. We hope she can be back Monday. We have missed her while she has been gone. -Mattie Potts Last Saturday while Richard Thompson was playing football, he got a peice of gravel in his eye. He had to go to the doctor to have the gravel taken out. Tho eyeball was cut. We are glad that he is better nov/. -Buddy Houston Anne Anderson has gone to Colum bia and is going on to Charleston. She will be gone a few days, then she v/ill be back xiith us. We hope that she will have a good time. -Herbert Johnson Wo have a nev/ pupil, Thelma Webb, She missed five weeks of school because her mother has been sick. -Betty Potts I o
