THE MOUNTAIN TRAIL AUGUST Qj 1941 PAGE 2 HIGHLANDS COIVIMUNITY THEATRE PRESEl^TS CANDIDA THIS AFTERNOON Miss Muriel Brasler, Broadway aotness, will play the leading role of Candida in the George Bernard Shaw oomedy to be pre sented by Highlands Community Theatre in the School Theatre here this afternoon, at a matinee performance at 3 o'clock* Miss Brasler, who is in her early twen ties, has already had a ■varied and success ful stage career. She graduated from the Sarah Laurence School where she special ized in dramatics, then went right onto the stage, playing in Tapestry in Gray with Elissa Landi* Later she rehearsed with Les lie Howard for his production of Hamlet, but left to accept the feminie lead at the Pittsburg Playhouse for the winter season. In addition Miss Brasler has played in sum mer theatres at Bar Harbor, Southampton, Long Island, the Red Barn at Locust Valley, L* I,, and at the Reene Summer Playhouse in New Hampshire, The Boy Scout hut on Main Street has been loaned temporarily for the use of the Community Theatre, and tickets are on sale at the hut between eleven and twelve thirty each day* Composing the ticket committee are the Misses Harriet Zahner, Esther Cun ningham, Mary Pugh, Anne Black, Sooky Ter- hune, Mrs« Russell and a few others acting under the direction of the Box Office Chair man, Winnie Eskrigge. Lucy Storm, formerly Lucy Trosdal of Savannah, who is a professional actress, is in Highlands en route to fulfill an en gagement at a summer theatre in New Eng land, and has been secured to play the lead of Candida when the Highlands Communi ty Theatre takes this play to Brevard on Tuesday, August 12th, Due to a conflicting engagement, I^ss Brasler will have to re turn to New York before the 12th, and the Theatre is fortunate to have Lucy Storm succeed Miss Brasler as leading lady in the play© Miss Storm has formerly played this part at the Royal Academy in London, HIGHLANDS INN Miss Reba Jordan, Atlanta; Miss Caro-* lyn Jordan, Hawkinsville, Ga,; Mrs. R, A.
