Charlotte Rogers Vice President Georgia Cleaveland Secretary James Newton ;;;;;; jean Elmore Reporter OUR FIRST EIGHT YEARS ^ ^ We the Senoirs of ’^9 began our climb through Elementary School, some years ago. We were successful in learning our 3 R’s, and so made our way through the days of our young and happy childhood. am n-p nnf «?iv vears We were all separated, as we had a rather large class, all of our six years, of Elementary School, until we were all together in the Seventh grade, un e thp careful guidance of Mrs# Paul Grist. ^ In the eighth grade we made preparations for High School, and so receiv our diplomas from Mr« John Gordon* s™t*urou^'firsryear7n’Hig^ with Mr. Sumer as our homeroom teacher, toring the year Mr. Summer accepted the place as o^ principal, and we welcomed Mt. Harry Rogers into our hearts as our teacher. AS AMBITIOUS V/e bepan our year in the tenth o;rade ^-rith Mr. Summer as our homeroom t0&cli6r • t A number of our students participated in field day at Cullowhee this year. AS VJILD AND iiECKLESS JUtllOitS • • ^ We started our this fall term wn.th o:ily eleven juniors, naving lost three to the tenth g?rade. Some of our students participated in the Senior Class play this year, ”Desperate Ambrose.’* r • «? • After this, came April, and ever^'-one began iiiaking plans for the Junior, Senior trip to VJashington. , i ..i. r/- We left for Washington the 25^th of April and returned home the U^h ol May. This year we also gave the Seniors a Banquet. We hope they enjoyed this Banquet as much as we enjoyed f^iving io to t:iem. DIGNIGIED We regained three of our old classmates, along viith Johnny Cleaveland. This gave us fifteen Seniors to start the j'ear out with, lir. Watson was principal this last ear of our high school days. We haa as our homeroom teacher Mrs. Bertie Gillis. , ^ Several of our students served on the basketball teams, ioid of course came out on top, under the coaching of Mr. i^ewton, affectionately cal3,ed «»Prof‘', by all who love him. , . ^ We lost one of our Seniors, Bett3r Baldwin. We were sori^jr to lose her, and so finish the year out with iourteen ^raduatn.ng Seniors, (Continued on page 22)
