Margaret Vinson SIXTH GRADE NEWS In social studies we have been study ing about Greece. In English we are studying parts of speech. In science we have been studying a- bout rabies. We learned that a French scientist named Louis Pasteur worked for years to find a vaccine for rabies* Fin ally he was successful. The pupils of the sixth grade have made their own drawings for Thanksgiving on the bulletin board and board. We have a new pupil in our class. His name is Wayne Vinson. Our class collected $2[i..71 for the Red Cross. Jimmy Crawford FIFTH GRADE NEWS Since this is Book"\fe^ the fifth grade wanted to celebrate it. Last week was National Education Week so the fifth grade dressed up as some of their favorite characters in some of their favorite books. We celebrated it in National Education Week so that everyone could get ready for Book- Week. We went to all the rooms and they thought we were fimny. Jack Crisp said a very nice poem call- edicJ’BooksIt was written by Marjorie Knapp. That day all of the fifth grade had fun. Brenda Cleaveland FOURTH GRADE NEWS We are now studying about the first Thanksgiving. We have been coloring some very pretty pictures. Also we have been memorizing some poems. Margie Edwards brought a story book about the first Thanksgiving. We are working out a play on Thanksgiving. Douglas Potts attended the football game at Clemson, South Carolina. He sat in the upper deck. Wallace has just celebrated his tenth birthday. His \incle gave him a watch. He enjoyed it in spite of being ducked four times. Jimmy Bryson reported a good time on his visit to White Water Falls, Sun day. The falls are about ^00 feet long. Douglas Potts THIRD GRADE NEWS We have a new boy in our room. His name is Norman Vinson. He came from Tamassee, South Carolina. We have a new girl also. Her name is Joan Wood. We have learned lots of things this year and hope to leam more. We hope to read books too. We have Thanksgiving pictures up, Michael Hedden FIRST GRADE NEWS Our class has a X^riting Hospital. In the beginning everyone was a patient* We have spent a great deal of time and effort on mal-formation, power alignment and incorrect spacing!1 You should see those capital and smsill letters. Two- thirds of our patients have recovered and have been dischargedfrom the Writing Hospital. Now they are serving on the hospital staff, the boys as doctors, the girls as nurses. The remaining patients are improving. With such an efficient staff complete recovery is assured. MRS. BROWN*S FIRST GRADE NEWS At wthis time there are twenty-four little boys and girls in our first grade. We have lost four boys and one girl^ Ralph moved to Florida, David to Ohio, Terry and Gerry to Virginia and Gladys is attending Glenville School. We are working hard learning to read, write, and do number work. Shirley is going to be one of the mascots this year.
