Everyone seems to be very x^ell pleased about the schedule and the variety of subjects we have. The school staff is made up of thir teen teachers and the principal. They are as follows: Mrs, Brown, Mrs. Vernon, Mrs. James, Miss Edwards, Mrs, Henson, Miss Calloway, Mrs. Schiffli, Mr. Dupree, Ite. Dupree, Mrs. Patt LUller, I4r, Summer, Mr, Newton, Mrs, Jolm Hiller, and Mr, Hendrix, principal. Miss JoAnne Dendy is the school secretary and treasurer and also teaches typing and shorthand. The high school girls are very well pleased that we have a Home Economics Department this year. The school greatly appreciates hav ing Mrs. Olson, visiting librarian. Miss McCurry, visiting music teacher, and Mr, Sly, visiting band teacher to come to the school once a week, Joan Tritt The Beta Club members have held only one regular monthly meeting and several called meetings. We have decided to hold the regular meeting after school to give ujs more time for our business. The members have been planning an outing, but so far all plans have had to be canceled. The Beta Club officers are: Presi dent, VJanda Hopper5 Vice President, Richard Zoellner; Secretary, Jessie Har- bison; Treasurer, Anne Wilson; Reporter, Joan Cleaveland, and Sponsor; Mr, Robert Dupree, The standards of the Beta Club have been raised to a 90 average. We hope to have more new members at the end of the first semester, Joan Cleaveland HO^]E ECONOMICS TEACHING PLAN There is no plan as to the order in which the following topics will be taught, Mrs, JUller has planned to cover most and all if possible, of the topics in the following list this year, A, The first topic is clothing. This has been begun and practically every one of the girls has about finished her garment. Colors were tried on each girl in order to pick out the colors best suited to each, Tlie sewing machine and its parts were studied. We checked our per sonality and the personality of other girls in each class. There will be a fashion show November 3, here at the school. Each girl will model the garment that she has made. The length of time used for clothing is six weeks, B, Foods, The basic four groups of food will be taught by use of Food Models, The foods eaten my each student will be studied. The girls will take up the breakfast unit and preparation of special holiday foods. Included in this unit will be setting the table, serving and table manners for all occasions. This will take approximately six weeks, C, Celebrating Christmas in the Family, Package wrapping, making simple gifts, decorating in the home and buying gifts, and money management xdLll be taught.
