Mr. and Mrs, Arthur McCall announce
the birth of a daughter, born December
13 at Angel Hospital. Mrs, McCall is
the daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Lee Dowdle
of Highlands,
Several college students will be home
for the Christmas holidays,
Mr, Dewey Hopper visited his daughter
and son-in-law, l'4r, and Mrs, Morris
Wilson, last weekend. The Wilsons live
in Williamston, South Carolina,
Mr, Jimmy Lowe spent the past week
end visiting his parents, Mr, and Mrs,
Jim Lowe,

The Highlands Inter-Church group re
cently held their quarterly meeting at
the Episcopal Church,
The monthly meeting of the Highlands
P, T, A, met last Thursday evening at
7:30 P. M, Mr, Edward Potts, president,
presided. Speakers for the evening were
Mr, and Mrs, Ralph Deville, The home-
economics classes served Christmas punch
and Christmas cookies in their recently-
finished department.
The W, S, C, S, of the Methodist
Church held a Christmas bazaar, December
9 in the fellowship hall of the church.
Even though the weather was bad they had
a very successful day.^ . .
The Presbyterian Church is having a
Christmas Eve Service at seven o’clock
on December 2h»
The Episcopal Church is presenting a
Christmas Pageant on Sunday morning,
December 2U, at eleven o’clock.
The Shortoff Baptist Church is pro^
senting a play, "Back to Bethlehem",
Saturday, December 23, at ^:30 P, M,
Mrs. Tom Harbison and daughter, Tina,
are spending several days visiting rel
atives in Stuart and Miami, Florida,
They are accompanied by Luther Rice, Jr,
who is visiting his brother in Stuart,
Florida, They will return before Christ
mas when Ann Harbison returns with them
for the holidays,
Mr, and Mrs, Barak Wright and child**-
ran spent the past- week-end visiting Mrs
Wright’s parents, Mr, and Mrs, Earl
Crunkleton.

from Greenwood, South Carolina, spent
the past week-end at their home in

Mr, and Mrs, Bill Wilson announce the
birth of a daughter, Leigh Anne, born
December 7, 1961, at Angel Hospital in
Franklin, N. C.
Funeral services were held Monday, ' ■.

Oakway, South Carolina, Interment was
at the Oconee Memorial Park, Mr, Wilson
was the son of Mr, Barmey Wilson of
Highlands,
Mr, George Reese, son of Mr, and Mrs,
Bob Reese, is spending the holidays at
home in Highlands, He is stationed at
Fort Bragg, N. C,
The home of Mr, and Mrs, Sherman
McClure who live in Williamsburg, Ky,,
was burned rocently, Lucille and Rich
ard McClure, daughter and son-in-law of
Mrs, Ed Rogers'were living there*
