m CLASS TRIP COOT. After leaving Mount Vernon we tried to find the Cathedral. After getting lost 5 or 6 times we irere rewarded with the tall steeples of the Cathedral's roof. After spending some time there we went to the Jefferson Memorial. At the end of this busy day everyone was ready for a good nights sleep. Friday we had planned to take a tour through the White House, but found the lines too crowded to even get in. We drove around it several times and were able to take some pictures of the outside. For the rest of the day we went shopping to buy some souvenirs of D.C. We had our last glimpse of D.C. before we went shop^ing. Everyone was sorry that the class trip of 1976 was. coming to a close, but everyone was getting excited about seeing good ole "High Town" again. We were all craving a glass full of that good momtain water. We packed t.he bus around 700 p.m. "When 9s00 o'clock finally came, the Macon County Schools bus was rolling down that road towards home. We tried to get as much sleep as was possible on that bus. We were in Anderson, S.C., by 9s00 a.m. Saturday. Some of us didn't think it was necessary to stop for breakfast. We were just two hours away from Highlands and we -h wait- Wiiio wo xniivi+.'i?r>+.ly waltod for the ones that did eat break fast we were visited by a preacher. He left us a Bible and some booklets to give to our captain. We rolled into the beautifui. rainy streets of our town around 11:00 a.m,, and were greeted by our friends and some parents. None of us will ever forget the wonderful times we had on this once in a life time; trip. SCHOOL It seems like the first few years of high school, everybody gets to gether and talks about how they wish they were out of school and how much they want to move out and be on their own. Everyone goes through that stage, because that's the age when it seems you get into the most trouble and you just want to run away from it all. But as the years go by, your whole opin ion is changed . You think about all t’le friends you’re going to miss. Then you start thinking about the outside worldj that’s what really gets you, it's not always going to be that free and beautiful world you once thought it to be. So if everyone had enough common sense, you wouldn't try to rush your way through school, believe me you’re going to miss it. by Lori Nylund
