They are cheating them- s^5lves out of an almosfc f:‘’ee higr- school edu cation. It does . .ot seem fair for one •ex’son to study and ake a fair grade on a 3st, and for another orson who hasn’t stud ied to cheat and make a high grade on It. Teachers need to keep a close watch for cheating during test time, but the students also have a 'rave re sponsibility for the deve; ""pment of their own character. If it is wrong to cheat, could it not also be vr6ng to allow the of fender to go unpunished’ Are we not personally giving a nod of appro val to the cheating X'Jhen we, as students, refuse aid in his dis- covery and apprehension |-nn_. .. L I CONTROVERSIAL ! SITUATION I j It is the general [consensus of opinion that this ?chool is re garded by some few as inadequate. However, upon the inquisition of members not affili ated with the immedia'tes administration of Vest montgomery, this is b^und to be a misguided opinion. This bel ligerent or pugnacious apirit is based upon the completely erron eous assumption that students have the right to do as the^r please with no ques tions asked. They don'tl Teachers are in control of the stu dent body and.have su preme authoritT/", even over the high«-st stu dent government offic ial. The students who think thev are under no obligations except to the teacher whose class the^^ are atten ding -- and then only partially—have a hard lesson to learn? West Montgom.ery cannot func tion at itg bast until students learn this. Montgomery County ga rage, suggests '’the location is ideal. Prom vhat I can tell, it is a fine school.
