FOREWORD
I In the early part of October, 1921, the
I Editorial Staff of the Midget was elected,
e The editor-in-chief and her able assistants
I began at once to collect material and get
j the first issue ready for publication.
I Every issue seemed to be a little bettor
j than the one before. Taken all in all, the
H results obtained from our efforts were
I very gratifying indeed,
f The home and school were brought
j much closer together and there was a
I much better understanding between the
j . townspeople and the students and faculty.
I The needs of the school and the likes and
I I dislikes of the students were brought to
j the attention of those who should know
I them, that is, the parents and taxpayers.
I Ability among the pupils was developed
I greatly by the little school paper. Those
j who had had no previous experienced in
I such work before showed a marked ability
I in business, executive and literary lines.
I These qualities were stimulated by the
I publication of a little High School paper.
^ Since we have learned the possibilities
I of success and self-improvement that lie in
H the publication of such a periodical we
j have determined to take advantage of last
j year’s experience and publish The Midget
I this year.
I The students set a very high standard
j for the paper last year and lived up to it
i
in every instance. However, we have de
termined to make in this year’s paper a
distinct improvement over last year’s, be
cause we have profited much by experience
and are starting out upon the shoulders of
last , year’s achievements. Among other
things we have done tojmprove the paper
has been putting an editor in charge cf
each department. For instance, there is a
Society Editor, whose duty it is to select
the news that shall be published in her
columns and if necessary to help rewrite
any article handed in to her by any stu
dent. We think this will be a distinct im
provement over last year’s arrangement,
because each editor will try to improve his
or her department and make it the best in
the paper.
The aim of the paper is to bridge the
gap between the school and the home. We
will count it a success if even in a small
way we bring a closer relationship between
the people of the town and the school and
school activities. The Midget will also bo
used as a means of communicating mes
sages directly to the public and letting the
townspeople know our likes and dislikes.
The students and faculty have prom
ised to do their best and with the co-op
eration of the public we are sure of suc
cess. .
