In our new building back of Stanly Hardware Company. gradually making the members take an interest in and enjoy the meet ings under the splendid management of President Sibley. Mr. Stephens and Miss Braswell also give valuable suggestions, which make the society still better. Another thing which makes the so ciety more interesting is the instru mental musical selections rendered by the several students who are mem bers of the local bands. Music, in deed hath a charm, for the members listen attentively and applaud gen erously. There are some vocal djets, which are also enjoyed. We have several good speakers and debaters, who have a wonderful op portunity to accomplish something, on account of the Wilson Literary Society’s training. JIGGG ENTERTAINS MAGGIE ^ (Arthur Harris.) Friday evening the Maggies, win ners in the recent Ladies’ Home Jour nal campaign, were royally entertain ed by ths Jiggs at the home of Mr. Daniel Boger Jiggs. About 8 o’clock the Maggies and Jiggs began to gather at Davis’ beau tiful home. The Jiggs'looked about and then breathed a sigh of relief for the Maggies had frogotten past ani mosities and left their rolling pins at home. Ey 8:15 all had arrived and the games of the evening began. The first contest called for good hoppers. Twelve grains of rice were placed on a knife which was to be held while the person hopped across the room. Eight or more descended from their d'gnified positions and attempted the feat. Came out victorious with ten grains reposing on the knife. Dan Lberally gave prizes to all contest ants. The prizes consisted of salted peanuts, prize boxes, and stick candy. The second game was cross ques tions and- crooked answers. The questions and answers brought forth much laughter as they were as dif ferent as day and night. Then wh le the guests were lined up for this game, they began the old Virginia reel, which was entered into w*th a zest. About 9:15 Dan, accompanied by Arthur Harris, was seen to myster iously disappear. Where they had gone, no one could guess. Twenty minutes later they reappeared with, a waiter heaped high with Eskimo, pies, and the mystery was solved. They had been to the drug store. The pies were followed in rapid succes sion by luscious red apples and de licious candy. At this time Misses Pridgen, Stroupe and Huntley discovered ifc was time for all little children to be in bed, and therefore, took their de parture. Ih s broke up the spirit of the party and soon all began to leave> Once again dope was upset, and tha Jiggs were heartily thanked by the. Maggies and allowed to depart with out slipping away with their shoes in their hands and a look of deadiy fear on their faces. When I’m tipsy I see double:. Yo::’re in luck. I’n luck? How so?
