'Phc party left school late in flic afternoon, hiking the distance from the (.'nunty,clnb car line to Lassiter’s JEill. Over the big fire, built for the occasion, were roasted many a “liot dog”, slice of bacon, pplo, a'ld marshmallow, but they vanished in- instantly with the aid of toasted bread, huge dill pickles and healthy upjietites and then in the glow of the dying fire the old time heart songs furnished the appropriate ending of a perfect day. FUN IN THE “Y ROOM” On Saturlay Oct. 29 at S:00 P. i[. the girls from Fruitland Institute entertained the Fruitland boys who arc at Wake Forest. The plans for the occasions wej-c originated and put into effect by Sarah Henderson and Xellio Slattery. As it was so near Hallow een, the decorations consisted of autumn leaves and flowers, pumpkins and candles, shaded lights, and a ghost acted as usher. There wei'o nineteen present including onr congenial chaperon, Miss Rogers. We ]>lay- ed fireside games, told stories. and toasted niiirshmallows. There were oats—not a few. 1^0 one ate apples except those who had the eoiii-age to bob them- out of a pan of cold water.
