SPRING IS IN THE AIR
I wonder how many of us ever no
tice the condition of the grounds up
near the walls of our dormitories.
Well, if we ever pause for a moment's
survey, some of the things that we
see are paper bags, newspapers, fruit
peelings of various sorts, eliewlng gum
wrappers, ink bottles, small paper
boxes, and many other kinds of rub
bish. Of course, we untiioughtfully
walk to our windows and pitch such
rubbish out and down to tiie campus
i)elow, or even If we think, our
thoughts probably are. “Oh, well, I
suppose Mr. Ferreli will have the
campus raked tomorrow.” But, in
stead of that, maybe it is several days
before the campus is raked and along
comes a "March wind” and the paper
and other lighter bits of trash arc
hurled In every direction over the
campus. And what must the passers-
by think of us? Even if they were re
quired to pass Meredith at tlie rate of
ten miles per hour, they could not help
being astonished at the unsightly con
dition of our grounds sometimes.
Tliere are waste baskets provided for
us on every hall, so let’s put our trash
In them henceforth and watch the re
sults. Spring is in the air and tlie lit
tle bulbs tiiat have been buried in
the earth all winter and kept warm by
the nice layer of rubbish we provided
for them are peeping out now and try-
,1ng to blossom and beautify our cam
pus. Let's all cooperate and give them
a fair ciiance.

FAMOUS LETTEIIS OF
I'ASIOU.S rFOl’LF
(Continued jrom i>age t\co)
I believe that even I would break a
few records.
I made some Parker House rolls on
cooking lab the other day. They were
real good, but when I baked them
they exploded like pop-corn,
I’ve decided to let my hair grow
out. Don’t ask me what for, because
Llie correct thing is “Who for?”
Mama, I really need some new
clothcs. I saw something very nice
in silk hose the other day. And,
Mama, I'm sorry you don't want me
to wear my alclrts so sliort, because
you must know that I have my own
good reasons for doing so. And I’m
not going to have Papa cut my al
lowance. It's not big enough,
anyway. And I'm going to New York
for the spring holidays, even if you
do say come home. And I am not go
ing to stop going with Tom.
Your dutiful daughter,
MARIE.
