Tlio opening exercises took place in tlie auditorium when Miss Madaline Elliott led in the devotionals after which the teachers were Introduced by Velina Preslar, B. Y. P. U. president. The classes were airauged in six periods with a recreation period between each. “Pat’^ Abernethy took charge of the recreation periods which ■\A’ere held in the hall of the Arts biiild- ing. At 8:35 o’clock a long social period was held at wliicli tim! tea was served. The ofliicers wxire extremely fortunate in getting a most select corps of teachers. “The Plan of Salvation,’’ was taught by Mr. W. H. Ford of Wake I'\)rest; ‘^B. Y. P. U. Organiaa* tion,” by Mr. J. A. Ivey. MEREDITH WINGATE CLUB ENTERTAINS W. F. BOYS The ^Vingate Club at Mere dith was hostess to the ^Vingate (Huh of >\'ake Forest on Satur day evening, November 8. The guests were received in the par lors; from there they were con ducted to the Astro Uall, where pnn‘h was served. Partners were matched by Inuntning old tunes, curious and exciting rouuinces were written, and latest styles were shown in newspaper suits and dresses. Miss IJerndon's design, modeled by David Pickier, won first place, the prize being the "W'in- gate Bulldog. Old-fashioned games were played at the tables, where refreshments of pop-corn, sandwiches, and cocoa were served, after which the singing of Wingate’s Alma Mater closed an evening of fun. BERTIE COUNTY CLUBS ENTERTAIN^ JOINTLY Being with friends is next to being at home, and when the frienils are from one’s home county there’s a very satisfac tory feeling in the aii‘—or at least the Bertie County (Mubs of Wake Forest and Jlerediih seemed to think so when tliey met for their lirst social together on the afternoon of November 8. Tihe boys got here about three o'clock, and the girls met (hem out nt the front. Then the Meredith Club, with Miss Pearinan chaperoning, walked with the visitors to Allen’s Pond and back. \Valking is a good appetizer, so a weiuer roa.’^t In the grove on their return was a welcomi; and merry part ot the e^’ening. After this Jlr. Basil Castelloe gave a toast to the Sleredith girls, to which Jliss liuby Lee responded. Then iVrise Jessie Faye Greene, as president of the Jferedith Bertie County Club, gave a toast to the two clubs and to their future interests. Mr. Milton Eai-ly, the president of the Wake Forest club then made a brief but very interesting talk o]i the spirit of the chib, and ex pressed in behalf of the boys a hope that it would grow and con tinue to hold the two organiza- tiims together. The Wake Forest boys left after the iUma ilaters of both schools had been sung.
