All of us I probably have, but we know these girls who cook and sew are not just doing it for leisure. They are taking interesting home eco nomics courses. A wide variety of courses is found in the home-ec. depart ment, including textiles and clothing, foods and cooking from which the good aromas come, tai loring in which beautiful suits and coats are made, and the “bride’s course,” an elective in which girls learn to select and prepare attractive foods with the clever ideas of Miss Brewer. A very attractive feature of this department is the practice house which is like a five-room apart ment. In their senior year home ec. majors, four at a time, live there, are hostesses, do all the shopping, cleaning, and plan ning, and cook all the meals. I From glances we get of the 'pretty, neat bedrooms, the cozy kitchen, and the dining room Iwith its snowy white tablecloth, i clear crystal, china, and silver, I it looks like a mighty inviting ! place. All in all, the home-ec. de partment, with Miss Brewer and I Miss Hanyen as the staff, is cer tainly a good one of which to be ! proud. It plays an important role on our campus.
