By JEAN PACE
The Meredith College Athle

February 27-28. On Friday, Bess

At the same hour Jean Pace

Athletic Associations concern

student officials, finance and

play ping-pong, and get ready
for the pajama party to be held
later that night in the dormi
tories.
On Saturday morning the
group attended a panel discus

through the new buildings on
the campus. The business was
concluded in the general meet
ings that afternoon by the hear

constitutional changes, pub

cussion groups. Mr. C. W.
Phillips then spoke on “Youth,
Recreation, the Future” carrying
out the theme of “Past—Pres
ent—Future” in the best way
possible.
Though this meeting offically
ended the conference everyone
stayed over for the 25th An

Olympics.” This event was a
series of stunts, dances, and con
tests presented by the W. C. stu

(from The Bells of

Today my subject is “I Wan
dered Lonely As A Cloud” by
William Wordsworth. The ques
tion I call to your atten
tion is: “Are Willie’s Words
worth reading?” Read on, folks,
and bear this in mind.
I wandered lonely as a cloud,
(Tell me. Will, is that Johnnie
Ray’s Lil White Cloud That
Cried?)
That floats on high o’er vales
and hills, (By jingo, it floats;
99 and 44/100 per cent pure!)
When all at once I saw a
crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils,
(Ah, me! what a spectacular
sight!)
Beside a lake, beneath the
trees, (Tell me. Nature Boy,
where do flowers usually
grow?)
Fluttering and dancing in the
breeze. (Say, were they doing
the Charleston or the Bunny
Hop?)
Continuous as the stars that
shine, (Uh-oh, trite expression,
W. W.)
And twinkle on the Milky
Way, (I’d say that was pretty
tasty twinkling they did!!)
They stretched in never end
ing line (Boy, Will, you’ve real
ly got your perspective down
pat!)
Along the margin of a bay,
(Hope that was a two-inch mar
gin, Mr. W.; Warriner’s Hand
book, Rule 11, page 53.)
Ten thousand saw I at a
glance (Mighty good for a mere
glance.)
Tossing their heads in spright
ly dance. (Uh-huh, and is that
all they were tossing?)
For oft, when on my couch I
lie, (W.W., was it laziness or
just old age?)
In vacant or in pensive mood,
(Sounds like a blank-out—the
kind S.M.S. girls have during
exam week.)
They flash upon that inward
eye (Strange!!)
Which is the bliss of sblitude;
(Anti-social.)
And then my heart with plea
sure fills.
And dances with the daffodils.
(The day your heart does the
hucklebuck with those crazy
daffodils, buzz me, will ya?)
