Five Meredith students and one
Meredith graduate enjoyed the
events of October 31, 1964, not at
Riddick Stadium, but at a horse
show at Pine Hall Farm near Ra
leigh. The Sherman Crites own the
lovely farm with well-kept bams
and many acres of pasture- and
wood-Iand.
Mrs. Lila Phillips Bozick, Mere
dith hunt-seat instructor, provided
transportation for Nickey Childrey,
Lynn Grumbles, Jane Hendricks,
Janie Ostrom, and Macki Rudisill.
Karen Galbraith, accompanied by
her parents, attended the show.
Allcott Has
Senior Recital
Mary Allcott, a music education
major from Richmond, Virginia, pre
sented her senior recital in Jones
Auditorium November 14. The pro
gram included the composers Mo
zart, Brahms, Schumann, Rach
maninoff, and Bartok. Miss Allcott
is a student of Mr. Stuart Pratt. She
plans to graduate from Meredith in
January, 1965.
Mrs. Bozick arranged for three
horses, Barred Umbarrette, Carolina
Holiday, and Yellow Wolf to be
taken to the farm and shown by stu
dent riders. Nicky Childrey, Lynn
Grumbles, and Macki Rudisill
showed Barred Umbarrette; Janie
Ostrom showed Yellow Wolf. Karen
Galbraith showed her snowy white
Best Man in several classes.
Mrs. Bozick jumped 5’6” on her
open jumper Maloney, which ac
cumulated enough points to be Re
serve Champion jumper in the show.
Palestro, another horse shown by
Mrs. Bozick, placed third in a Work
ing Hunter Hack class.
Though the Meredith student con
tingent did not bring home the rib
bons from the show, it did get a
wide range of experience in the
classes. The open hunter course the
Crites provided was very strenuous
and a test for any good horse
woman.
