For the past several years Mrs. Sandhu has taught at King’s College in Raleigh. Dr. Virginia Steinmetz comes to Meredith as assistant professor of English after having taught in the public school systems in the states of Illinois, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Most recently she has served as a member of the faculty at Duke University. Dr. Steinmetz holds the B.A. degree from Wheaton College, the M.A. degree from Temple University, and the Ph.D. degree from Duke University. Dr. Robert Vance becomes assistant professor of philosophy and religion at Meredith after having been a member of the faculty at Mars Hill College for the past several years. Dr. Vance received &e A.B. degree from Davidson College, the M.Div. degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and most recently received the Ph.D. degree from Emory University. Joining the department of music and the performing arts as instructor of drama and speech, Mr. Robert Wharton received the B.F.A. degree from Virginia Commonwealth and the M.A. degree from the University of Connecticut. At present he is pursuing work in the doctoral program at Florida State University. Formerly, he was a member of the faculty at Indiana University-Purdue. PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS Mr. Michael Boggs will be instructor of guitar. Having received the B.Mus. degree from UNC-Greensboro and the M.M. degree from the University of Georgia, Mr. Boggs has more recently had master class performances with Jose Tomas and Manuel Rames. A Meredith alumna, Mn. Celia Witt Buck will be teaching nutrition courses in the department of home economics for the fall semester. She is employed as assistant manager of food services at Wake Medical Center for the past several years and is currently enrolled in the graduate program at East Carolina University. Ms. Kathleen Lamb will be instructor of speech. Having served as guest lecturer for workshops, Ms. Lamb received the B.A. degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is expected to complete requirements for the M.A. degree this fall. Dr. Janice Lee will be teaching courses in science education for the fall semester. For the past year, Dr. Lee was a member of the teaching faculty at Shaw University and previously served on the faculty at North Carolina State University. Again, we welcome Mrs. Anne Mackle to the department of sociology and social work. Mrs. Mackie has taught on previous occasions at Meredith. She holds the B.A. degree from Beaver College and the M.S.W. degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. Mrs. Salle Murray, a Meredith alumna, will be teaching courses in the department of English. She is presently enrolled in the master’s program at North Carolina State with completion expected this fall. Having taught in the Wake public school system, more recently she has been a member of the faculty of the Agricultural Institute at N. C. State. Presently a physical education instructor at St. Mary’s, Ms. Sandra Sappenfleld will teach synchronized swimming at Meredith. She received the B.S. degree from Appalachian and the M.Ed. de^e from North Carolina State. Mr. Jack Sullivan will be teaching computer science courses this fall. Having received the B.A. degree from the University of St. Thomas, he is presently enrolled in the master’s program at North Carolina State with completion expected this fall. For the past several years, Mr. Sullivan has been employed with ffiM as a programming instructor. In the department of music and performing arts, the following will be employed: Hugh and Marta Partridge (husband-wife team) • applied music, Mrs. Marilyn Budrow • Suzuki violin, Mrs. Virginia Hudson - cello, and Mrs. Susan Lohr • piano. Mr. John D. Martin will be employed as our campus coordinator of light and sound and technical assistant in theater. Packets of information will be distributed along with all necessary forms to begin establishing placement files. These sessions are important for seniors who are planning to go into the job market as well as those not planning to work immediately after graduation. By establishing a placement file, graduates are assured that references from favorite professors will be available when needed. At the Job Search Workshops, strategies will be given for resume development, interviewing and the beginning job search. SPACE AVAILABLE IN OUT- OF-STATE SCHOOLS IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS The State of North Carolina has for many years, under contracts with institutions in other states, secured spaces for the training of its students in certain health professions which could not be fully provided by institutions in our state. North Carolina students selected to fill contract spaces qualify for reduced tuition at the private institutions and for payment of tuition at the in state rate at the public institutions. Students may also quality for loan, scholarships, and work-study programs administered by the contracting institutions. The State of North Carolina has several student aid programs which may provide additional assistance.
